I see that the NZ prime minister has criticized the United Nations for not doing enough about Russia. How can she criticize should an important body who have over many years contributed so greatly to the ability to make money disappear without showing anything positive for the amount used. Jacinta Ardern has for years shown sense in what she says, but this has taken so long to come out, that I doubt anyone will do anything. The world body needed a complete overhaul years ago and the throwing out of the veto ability by the larger nations.

The leaders you are talking about are not elected by the people. They are elected by the party. At least Biden, Trump, Johnson and our very own Morrison. They only stay as leaders while the party supports them. What does that tell you. Surely it is the party that is at fault. Johnson is a clown, as was Trump, but in both cases the party decided they were clowns worth having.

Does NAIDOC Week do anything to promote integration?

It is all smoke and mirrors. I notice that the TV often has words to the effect that the ABC or SBS acknowledge the local aboriginal tribes. but what does that mean. In my opinion it is just to pretend that the non aborigines care about the culture of the aborigines, while they really don't care a damn. Personally I don't either. The aborigines had a culture I suppose, but what it was I don't know. All over the world there are tribes that have been displaced and then displaced again. What we really need is to all get along together rather than one group expecting handouts and respect for beeing the losers. Rather as Israel has been since its inception. -
My property is not grazed all over and the wattles and eucalypts do not take off in plague proportions. There seems to be a natural regrowth rate. Cyprus pnewas logged for years and then the greenies got involved and stopped logging, hence the dense stands of stick thin timber nowadays. A lot of timber needs fire to activate the seeds and also a lot need good conditions to germinate. This results in big stands of eucalypt all at the same age, all due to a good wet period.

So far the whole world seems to agree that Russia is an aggressor and that it is committing war crimes. We seem to be sitting around like a load of old women, bemoaning the fact that we are gutless when it comes to Ukraine. Biden said before Russia invaded that the USA would not send troops, or in other words he invited Putin to attack. Now we have no strategy for ending this war, just a policy of pouring munitions into Ukraine until they run out of soldiers to use the weapons. The NATO group are getting ready to fight WW2 again and are bolstering their numbers. It appears that all except Russia and a few other places such as Belorous are afraid of what will happen if the Ukraine gets on top of Russia. Putin will then be a cornered animal and will use nuclear weapons against NATO. If Russia prevails and the Ukraine is defeated, what next? It is obvious that Putin would then continue has aggression. Are we going to stand by again and watch another country destroyed? The clowns that are making the most noise about this problem, Biden, Boris Johnson and all the other politicians need to look at the future. We need someone to spell it out to Putin that any use of nuclear weapons will result in immediate annihilation of Russia. Maybe London and Washington would be attacked, but retaliation should limit the extent of the devastation. If we don't point out to Putin that this will happen we are just going to see countries devastated and the whole world thrown into war again.

I hear today that Victoria has partially privatized Vicroads. That is giving private enterprise the job of collecting registration and licencing fees. Supposedly there will be rebates for those who don't collect speeding fines or similar. I cannot see any private enterprise taking on any job unless they can see big profits, so why can't the government do better?

what you need to do is analyse what the posters are saying. Sometimes it looks to me as if some just post something to get a reaction and others post to try and draw out an answer, still others post without knowing what they are saying. Just work out who is who and disregard the idiots. No matter what anyone says you don't have to agree with it, but if you disagree and say so, you need a reason.

The army I was in didn't have cooks. It had men who pilfered the rations to suit their own ends, except in one camp which was Ordinance Corps and for some reason the food was first class.

And I thought it was Spike Milligan.

The cleaner our living conditions and the more we try to clean up and kill pathogens, the less likely we are to succeed. I have never tried to be ultra clean or avoid nasties and I have always had a very strong ability to fight off infection. My belief is that you need to encounter infectious pathogens to be able to build up an immunity.

This is the way to see the article I commented on. https://thenewdaily.com.au/life/2022/06/25/the-stats-guy-australian-values/

I see in todays News daily that a survey has been done in which people ranked values in Australa. In order of how they were ranked the first ten were. Equal opportunity. Freedom. Mateship. Honesty. Security. Rule of law. Work ethic. Physical health and fitness. Nationalism.. Resilience. In the order as shown it looks like a case of political correctness. Personally I would put Honesty at the top, followed by health. How would you rate them and in the survey there were several other I haven't included.

America looks to me rather similar to Afghanistan. Full of religious fanatics who want to force their beliefs on the rest of us. The only difference is that in America it is Christianity and in Afghanistan it is the Muslim religion. Both of them are flawed.

Sewerage sludge was used as fertilizer in England during the war. We used to get it by the truckload and used it for market garden crops. No bad affects as far as I know. Any sewerage works with sludge drying beds will produce a really good crop of tomatoes and they taste good.

From all the reports we get about trump and America it is obvious that Trump is insane and the Republican party were so enamoured with him that they did nothing about it. Mike Pence is reported to have been targeted by Trump, but he should have declared Trump incapable of holding office before the election in 2020. The Republican party are holding America back and making a mockery of their system of so called democracy. Or maybe it is just that the USA is full of idiots who are incapable of making democracy work. Sadly our country is showing similar symptoms. Those who have voted along party lines since their parents told them to and who cannot see what is happening.

I grew up in the years before NPK became so common. I worked on farms where we didn't use any fertilizer. We did grow grain crops with long straw, which became a problem for the harvesters. The long straw was used to bed down cattle and became "Farmyard manure" which was our fertilizer. The long straw was bred out of the grain crops, to make harvesting easier and consequently no more FYM. But we then had the problem of cattle dung being a waste product which polluted the waterways. Agriculture nowadays consists of planting a crop, with fertilizer, harvesting, getting rid of any waste product and doing it all again next year. Meanwhile the soil is degrading and is only the structure to hold the crop upright.

I don't know why but on hwy 1 in Qld they keep repeating the rough surface signs. All that is needed is one at each border. I must admit that the roads are better than they were 40 years ago. You can now overtake safely and also keep up a fairly good average speed.

Wild cat are a difficult thing for any other animal to take on. No self respecting dog would try to take out a wild cat, it is just too dangerous. The cat can rip an eye out and inflict bog damage with its claws. Sheep can get stuck on their backs if they have a fair fleece on them, then it is just tie until they die and also probably have their eyes pecked out by crows before death. Pigs do so much damage because they eat anything and also root up plants, killing them and opening up the soil for degradation. Goats may only be about 1.5 dry sheep equivalent, but they will eat every last living thing in poor times, whereas a sheep would die before it caused too much degradation. Horses are similar.

My opinion of Albo was that he was ineffective based on his performance in opposition. What he may be and what I hope he is, is someone who can bring a team together to do good government and so far he seems to be doing OK. He is of course getting help from Dutton who doesn't seem to realize why LNP lost the election. We had a by election last weekend to find a state member for Callide as the previous member, who was LNP got into the fed government. I am surprised that there has not been a loud acclaim for the sound win by LNP at this by election.

The Aussie soldier would have a far better education and be more employable than his US counterpart. The US army and marine corps has all the no hopers, who join up because it is the best way to earn a living. Our squaddies have to pass several aptitude and education tests and are also assessed for mental stability. Very different from the army I was in, where if you could breath in and out you were considered fighting fit.

In a porcine environment, then a virgin would be a gilt and that is one of the big things of christianity. We are all loaded with gilt. Maybe they are misbehaving with pigs.

It is not only foxes that take chooks. Stray dogs are also doing their share and more.

I reckon Scott Morrison will go down in history as one of the best PMs, at least in LNP history. He alone stood up to China when they spread the Corona Virus from their laboratories. He stood up to the French President when France refused to sit back and let him break a multi billion dollar deal with them. He stood up for his ministers when they were doing the right thing by buying votes for LNP with Sports rorts. He ensure the Australian public were appraised of refugee boats coming to Australia during the last day of the election. From the LNP point of view he won the previous election, which was unwinnable and it was just the dishonesty of the electorate who would not believe him that caused the election loss. He wull be hailed as even greater than Little Johnny.
