Our shire has a recycling program. Yellow bins for recyclable and red or green for waste. The tip is close to where I live and rubbish from the city comes out here. In the city you can take recyclable stuff to their transfer station, but I wonder what happens to it, because I cannot take it to the local tip, I can take some recyclable stuff, but have to sort it myself at the tip. I just wonder what happens to the recyclable stuff at the city.

He certainly got on with the problem of Covid. I have been looking at the daily figures from when India was supposed to be in trouble. Now India has a much greater population than the USA and at one stage it was only half a million cases behind the USA. Trump declared it was under control and since then USA has surged ahead of India by about half a million per day. I still reckon the Republicans will have to do something to kurb him before Biden is Inaugurated or he will demolish their democratic system.

Donald trump has awarded Scott Morrison with The Legion of Merit. That is an American military award also given to political foreigners. I consider this is just another display of the USA presidents mental incapacity. Why would he ever consider giving such an award to such a no hoper as Scott Morrison? The answer is of course that he and Scott Morrison think along similar lines. Repeat something often enough and people will accept it as true, that is their common ground. We as Australians do not need the USA to hold us up as being their great friend, that just makes us look as if we are lap dogs, which of course is not far from the truth. As an ex serviceman it pains me to see governments cheapening military service by awarding these awards.

I have a fitment for the Triton sawbench to fit a router. Very similar to the illustrated one. I also made my own, but as mentioned height control is a problem. There are special attachments made for tables to control height, but I persevere with a couple of nuts on the plunge column. At the moment I have resurrected an old wood lathe and am cleaning up to find space to install it, much to my wife's surprise.

I am not a skilled cabinet maker. My wife says I turn good firewood into sawdust and have never assembled any sort of flat pack into anything, unless you call a Vans RV4 a flat pack. I was amazed at the vans kit, it included everything that it said was there except for one omission. Somehow rivets listed as being there wer not enough. It turned out they must have had a new chum who put 22 rivets into the pack and it should have been 22 ounces of rivets. Kitchen cabinets here are all built in, to suit my wifes requirements and i doubt that a flat pack would comply. It was my first attempt at kitchen fit out and has lasted nearly 40 years, including a couple of updates. We couldn't get a tradesman to do the job nowadays, they are far too busy. My upgrade of the shower, bath will be non tradesman or flat pack. Do it yourself is my motto and preferably with non Chinese materials.

Don't write him off yet, he is still President until 20 Jan which gives him nearly a month to cause havock and given his mental condition he could well be the most dangerous man in the world at this time. just look at what he has done to the Covid outbreak. He is in one of the most advanced and savvy nations on earth and he has taken the USA to the position where they have the greatest number of covid cases per head of population, except for a few places with tiny populations, The Republican Party has a real dilemna, should they declare him incompetent before he destroys them, or should they hang on to him to keep his voting base? Just imagine what would have happened if trump had been a Democrat, how would the republicans have acted?

Even their normal structural steel like equal angles and RHS's is poorer than Aussie steel used to be. it is not uncommon to get sudden flare up when welding, as if there is an explosive pocket in the steel.

I assume that you are not suggesting that yuletide should be LGBTQI, but are using the real meaning of Gay. Today on local ABC being run from Mackay rather than Rocky, I heard a woman ask on a phone call for a Christmas carol. They played a christmas song rather like the Rudolph song, except it was not that one. Keep up the posts OME we enjoy your input and have a great Christmas.

solar powered rainwater tank sterilizer
Yenn replied to Bruce Tuncks's topic in Science and Technology
I have been on rainwater for over 50 years and all I use is the screen on top of the tanks to exclude mossies. I also syphon off the sludge that gets in the bottom of the tank, if and when we get decent rainfall. Have not had a problem yet. The only thing I miss out on is fluoride in the water for my teeth, but as i still have excellent teeth at 84 years old I think I may be able to last without it. -
That reminds me of the bloke who called at a friends house. He was told that his friend was up but not down yet. Meaning he was out of bed, but still upstairs. Concerning the stairs, those old people who live in houses with stairs will probably be fitter later than those who live on the ground floor, so they can attack the stairs.

So far our pollies are counting their iron ore chickens before they are hatched. They do not seem to realise that China can refuse to take our iron ore and just sit back for a while and we will be begging them to take it at half the price. Not only stupid but also gutless.

What do they call it. As a ten pound pom I was brought up as English. Now England is never mentioned, I suppose because they are ashamed of it. Then it can be The UK or Britain or Great Britain. God knows why it was ever "Great" Britain as it ceased to be great before the end of WW2. If the Asian food in Singapore is poorer than in Australi, then Singapore has sunk to terrible depths. I worked their and considered it to be the best place in the world for food, both Asian and non Asian.

A lot of the problems we are having now are due to our handling of affairs in the past. When we rode on the sheeps back all was good, but then wool prices dropped, partly because we produced so much. We then declared a floor price for wool, which ended up with us having millions of bales of wool , unsold in storage. That was even after some growers told the powers that be, that their price was too high. We have worked ourselves into the position that we depend upon exporting raw materials. We no longer produce steel, nor do we build cars or ships and become more reliant on others producing what we need. Most of our petroleum is refined offshore. All we need is for one of our big trading partners to say no more and we are in strife. Don't ask when because it is already happening. China is refusing our coal. That is what Scott Morrison has hung his hat and everything else on. So what now. Do we have anything that Canada, New Zealand or Britain want and can't supply for themselves, or get cheaper elsewhere. It does really look as if India will be where we look to trade in the future.

I reckon free trade deals are OK, so long as they suit Australia, not the sort produced by John Howard that excluded some of our agricultural products. We do not need any deals that allow other nationalities into Australia without them being properly assessed for suitability. For too long our government has allowed all sorts of people to become Australian citizens and still keep their original citizenship. They then go back where they came from and live happily in the knowledge that Australia will save them when their country blows up.

Mona must be working, also that Cavalier bloke.

And al I did was complain about the music on ABC being all the same and not to my liking. I was trying to point out that th ideal would be for all tastes to be catered for.

I don't know where Red got those graphs, but they don't show what is happening. The USA is racing away with a total of more deaths in the last day than the next 5 hardest hit countries. A short while ago India was within half a million of the number of cases in the USA. Now the USA has pulled ahead to over 6 million more than India. I think Trump has lost the plot and considers having the most cases and deaths as being in control.

Tiddly winks probably. The Olympics are descending into a position where judges can decide who wins a gold on their predjudices. The sports against the clock are easier to check for cheating. Of course a Russion Bereak dancer is going to get high marks from a Russian judge. We have seen it before. Back to music. it is possible to hea what most ABC stations distribute on TV nowadays. I can tune in to Sydney, Brisbane, Mackay and Toowoomba and a host of others, but I can't get my local station Capricornia. Pity as my radio reception is poor because the solar collectors cause interference.

You end up getting paltered. Not the same as getting plastered, from which you recover by lunch time.

Well, the expected is happening. It seems that Donald trump has signed an executive order to ensure that Americans get first shot at the vaccine and that nobody else will get it until all Americans are treated. Funny, he had covid under control a few weeks ago, now the USA is definitely in dire needs of some means of control, as the President has ensured that as many Yanks as possible contract the virus. For all those who think the USA is a shining beacon of all that is good, think again.

I never look at what movie stars and royalty are doing, but yes I did miss them.

It is great to be living on another planet and also impolite. But why is it impolite? Surely anyone can have an opinion. Does my expressing an opinion that the music the local ABC plays is poor affect anyone, or should I not express it. In that case I cannot see how the radio presenters should be allowed to say it is good. Having talked to some of them over the years I am told that they have a list of allowed music they can play. I just wonder why that list is all the same, screech and squawk, rather than a mixture of all kinds of music.

Jerry. You believed what our PM told us. I didn't think you would fall for that. What he really meant was Aussies if they can make enough noise, but cheap labour from the Pacific islands, sports people and politician and of course Germans who will not have to go through immigration.

Why not make it of aluminium, rivetted with AN 426 AD rivets to get that smooth look/ You may need an English wheel to get the domed part.
