    I drove through Coonamble today and it is in a sad state, so many empty shop fronts. I made a joke about the meaning of Coonamble and then had to look up the actual meaning. Believe it or not, it is Kamilaroi for big heap of shit. Ok you blokes won’t believe me, so here is the Wikipedia entry: The name for the town is taken from the Gamilaraay word guna (faeces) and -bil (having much).[2]

    I believe the cavity magnetron that produces the microwaves is stimulated to a certain level then comes on. It is either on or off, not proportional. So temperature controls are just on/off governors.

    Truck drivers on many country roads in Africa don't use headlights at night. They believe they can see better using natural light and don't want to dazzle others. A big surprise for the visitor.
