Wots a coin?

Blah. What with all that this wide brown land has to offer, our compatriot only wants to come home to get a chocolate coated biscuit made by a foreign company. And which can be obtained where he presently lives. (Sigh)

I can't agree with your hypothesis. For instance, post WW2, Japan built a massive motor vehicle industry - and it wasn't built on the back of a massive home market. With our country so flush with raw materials, why aren't we manufacturing for the world market? As a spinoff, we would have more affordable products on our shelves, and more productive employment.

You really don't want that tarp to blow off the Harley, do ya? -
Where did WE go wrong? Isn't that what should have happened here in the last 200 years?

You shower with a friend to save water? Call me rough, but my first thought was to whip out my leatherman blade and announce..."Mate, we can do this the quick way or the slow way"

A nickel for your thoughts, OME?

Now that's a smoking ceremony I object to.

The plastic seat tends to crack in the middle. The crack is not easily seen but when weight is applied, the seat spreads and the crack opens enough for things to drop through. When the weight is removed (he tries to stand), the seat springs back, closing the crack. Ouch. I still don't understand why they called the Fire Brigade.

My gripe about the above....... All good in theory, but peace turns to shit as soon as religions raise their ugly head in politics.
-
Not terrorism in the usual physical sense, but very concerning anyway.
-
The terrorim I think they are soft on is the data mining carried out for possible political influence by (mainly) CCP. The depth of that was mentioned in Guardian and ABC.

Here's a random thing, just in case you thought such events don't really happen....... Today I got paged to a Fire Brigade callout. " [location] - RESCUE, TECHNICAL. ELDERCARE, [address xxxx] 77 YO MALE TRAPPED IN SHOWER CHAIR BY TESTICLES" I really realy sympathise - this unfortunate bloke, cold, wet, naked, and surrounded by giggling staff while they wait for the fire brigade to arrive. With ladders and hoses. In the words of SFM... "I don't hold the hose..."

You'll have to ask someone who has had the experience. That presupposes an afterlife. Which there isn't. If there really is a life after death I'd read about it in the Tripadvisor Reviews.

A Banana Republic doesn't need leadership qualities in the head of state

Good to see war confined to 'Gripes where it belongs'. I can't stop hoping that Iran's supply of Shahaed (sp?) Drones to Putin might be disrupted by the Israelis. Otherwise, the whole show highlights the desperate need for people to stop using religion as an excuse to attack others. Will somebody remind all sides 'There are no winners in wars, only losers'

I came over to this thread because the other one got me depressed. Constant Arab wars, Russia starting ww3, and now chocolate prices going up..... C'mon guys. Find me a glimmer of hope in the world. Now, where did I leave my last block of chocolate.... -

Arnotts are owned by KKR headquarterd in New York), a mob with similar credentials to Black Rock. All hail globalisation. I'm still waiting for the trickle down of wealth. -
Rebuilding the houseboat deck- zoro's fishing spot.

Do we need to create a special category for reno projects? Zoro's deck renovation? -
Financially, Railways are a lot like boats..... Gov't spend gazillions on roads and call it 'investment'. Anything they spend on railways is announced as 'subsidising'. But we all know which infrastructure is the cheapest way to move large amounts of freight over great distances, don't we?

Ya mugz! Ya nearly got that during covid19.

I confess my ignorance.. the only drongos I have seen were upright bipedal humanoid types.

A long time back I read a book called 'Hudsons over Malaya' (or similar). Would have made a great movie. It was the story of the first Japanese invasion (shortly before Pearl Harbour). Chronicled the Aussies trying to stop landing barges, using only biplanes and Hudson bombers to straff big ships. Then the remaining ground crews and pilots making their way down the Malay peninsula trying to escape to Australia. Such stories SHOULD be made into movies otherwise modern people never hear about stuff that really happened.

Yeah, that's what my boat is. As a caring father I am doing everything in my power to ensure my kids don't fight over any inheritance from me.
