Well done! And that is why you are winning so many of Red's Brain Teasers. Now, would you care to do a tally of Jerry's keyboard follies?
  4. As practiced by politicians the world over. And Pootin might say "Look over there .... while I slip something in your tea." And Trumpy might say ".... while I slip something in your constitution." And Zelensky: ".... while I slip something in your fuel dump/munitions dump/battleship."
  5. Now that's what I'd call an unusual fetish! Each to their own, I guess.

Better communication and education sure would. But here we are, in the 21st century, stuck with Main Stream Media and Soshul Media (manipulaive mediocrity)
  7. Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather pay for my information, than get bombarded by annoying ads that pay for it. Yes, I make a small payment each yer to Wiki and a few others.
  8. I didn't think we had any foundries left in Australia?
  9. But the barstools stole it!
  10. G-O-N, I left steak-n-kidney back in 1976 because it was getting too noisy, dirty, and indifferent. It is a lovely harbour, spoiled by a unpleasant city. But going for the peace and solitude of a treechange doesn't get you away from the criminals. Rural theft is rife just about anywhere. (Signed: Grumpy Old Nomad)
  11. Heah, but is that just sour grapes from Bannon. He used to be 'best buddy' but not any more.
  12. The islands of Indonesia would have to be the most logical place in the world for distributed isolated power generation. Solar plus a small wind turbine and a community battery should be best? Can't see any logic in centralised power except for the biggest of their cities.
  13. Sadly, a grid that connects hundreds of little islands is not very practical. And I thought you were not much in favor of grid power distribution anyway?
  14. That's the way we do elections in Trumpland... Once the new DOGE gets going.
  15. As for funding the homeless.... Although the fire has caused sad loss of memorabilia, those wealthy people probably have ample wealth to rebuild their homes. They aren't likely to be sleeping rough on the streets, Unlike the homeless ones who the mayor was trying to help. The loss of life is tragic and I am in no way trivialising that. Perhaps they do not have emergency warnings on their mobile phones?
  16. Having seen the footage of the fire, and speaking as a fire fighter, no amount of fire department funding could have done anything to stop that fire. You can't blame the mayor for the outcome. Wild fire with that high wind behind it - is unstoppable.
  17. 9. More value than defunding ABC, Lets Mandate TRUTH in all political advertising.
  18. Well... In the interests of the population of our country, I'd like to see political action on the following:- 1. Transparency by all political and business players. 2. Accountability - a transparent Anticorruption watchdog that has teeth & allows public scrutiny. 3. A stop to foreign ownership of domestic property. 4. A better system of making big business pay their taxes. 5. A future fund similar to Norway's. 6. A ban on political parties. Democracy can be served better if each elected member is permitted a conscience vote. 7. Cease using taxpayers money for political advertising. 8. Bring back old fashioned boring but factual reporting and investigative journalism by our ABC. Am I sounding grumpy enough yet?
  19. Please keep gods out of politics. So far, there is no proof that gods can actually be relied upon to help mere mortals (and why would they want to?)
  20. Link to the article:- https://michaelwest.com.au/bhp-fwc-keep-wage-theft-secret/
  21. Here's one that possibly belongs in this thread: For years, BHP has had an agreement to not hire casual coal miners. So they allegedly have been using outsourced labour companies to hire casual coal miners on their behalf. This work-around has reportedly resulted in some miners being paid up to $1000/week less than the hiring mob collect. According to one report, two of these hiring companies have a close ownership connection to BHP. The story has been going on since 2010 - and possibly billions have been saved from BHP's wage bill over the years. Not much mention in the MSM though.
  22. And that's why most of us are grumpy, too!
  23. My first thought.... Did Spacey do this?
  24. I wish I hadn't deleted my Facebook account back in 2016. If I still had an account I would get great satisfaction from deleting it today - just to make a tiny point. But I can't delete it twice!
  25. That's proof that facts do not make profits. I think that 2025 is expected to be our most fact free year yet. I do wonder if any of the masses will get jack of it and delete their social media accounts? Or have we collectively become misinformation addicted?
