  1. We don't bow to USofA. What we do is bend over and bite the pillow.
  2. Must be the best use of a merdok publickayshun
  3. But don't expect much support from friendly media. We don't have one.
  4. What a great idea. Do you mean something like The National Anti-Corruption Commission, ACCC or ASIC?
  5. How can we address the problem of multiple accounts held by 'influencers'? Or by the unknown numbers of chatbots that are set up by most countries and many criminals, with the intent of modifying public opinion? Perhaps election influencers, etc? Would mandatory identification bring greater honesty and transparency (and thereby greater trust) to social media?
  6. Now that will be a real game changer when it is finally functional
  7. It's a sign of blind confidence in the technology
  8. Remember, both major parties in Australia voted against forbidding lying in their political advertisments
  9. Being anonymous permit me to say stuff without having to deal with the consequences?
  10. If you have to put your name to your comment, are you more likely to think before you speak? Is a conspiracy theorist more likely to stop spreading BS?
  11. This could have been under the banner of Science, or Politics, or Health or even Religion. It relates to all these. There is a debate to be had about the right to remain anonymous on the internet. One side claims .... "We do have a right to remain anonymous in public spaces, it is a fundamental invasion of privacy, to force anyone to put their name to a social media comment" The other side thinks that naming the content source will help control misinformation. Would the benefit be worth the loss of privacy? Part of the issue is the plan to force ALL social media users to prove they are over 18 years of age (and who would hold the personal data that proves age, etc)
  12. Yet another new fangled vehicle propolsion system that the public won't be buying.

    2024 Budget

Anyway, my 2024 budget allows for my red requirements.
  14. Standing near a tobacco shop can be fatal
  15. Every industrial revolution has it's ups and downs. The success of every new product rests on fashion, affordability and sales hype. Far more than environment. If, 25 years ago, I tried to convince you that everybody will soon be happily spending thousands of dollars on a new telephone every couple of years (and another thousand p.a. to use it), would you be sceptical? Yet it is the norm and nobody cares about the consequential whole-of-life pollution of it, nor of liquid fuelled personal transport.

    2024 Budget

I am envious. I found some nice and affordable reds last week and did my best to help the industry. This week I am drying out.
  18. I disagree OME. Not EV's in general. Maybe if overproduction of early models continues, there will be piles of unsellable 'early model' EV's. But I am convinced thet EV's are here to stay (so are legacy fuel vehicles for jobs that they are best at).
  19. Pleeze.... just dont sell your ticket to Oz
  20. Well Spacey, that would have brought Jerry to our shores a lot sooner.

    2024 Budget

Although I agree that the leaders of either party are not very inspiring, in the long run it is the party policies behind them that matters most. In recent decades the gap between the big parties has got less, but so far the present mob are not doing too badly overall.
  22. My point is, we don't know. Ststs can be helpful if they are detailed enough to diagnose the possible issues

Better make it sooner rather than later Jerry, this glut of reds on the wine market cannot last for ever.
  24. Ever notice that compulsive gamblers start blaming irrational causes when they lose (or win)?
  25. Also we collectively are afraid to delve into the statistics that might identify homicide/violence perpetrated by ethnic, or cultural subsets of the population. Such data could help targeting areas that might need greater protection or support.
