Yes, I agree, this is how democracy works. No point in the minority complaining about the result. However I cannot really comment on whether DJT's policies are of any value. So far, I do not see any reliable statement of what the new policies will be. Sure there were many rather vague election catch cries, but based on DJT's past activities, his 'policies' can be quite plastic. Worse still, there has been no statement of how the suggested radical restructuring of all bureaucracy (the deep state) will be achieved. So far I only hear his destructive intentions, with no shining light of benefits to the electorate. Can anyone enlighten me on how the new government of america is going to actually make the claimed miracles happen?

Remember, half of the american voters are not at all upset. Add to that, the big bunch who weren't bothered enough to vote. That only leaves a minority who are upset about the coming 4 years. I suspect other countries are more concerned than the average american.

Back to topic now that we have all finished our Friday treats. Elections are not now won by facts and firm policies. The government will get blamed by the opposition for the 'cost of living'. The cost is actually the result of a combination of profit mongering by multinational businesses, combined with undisciplined spendind by the voters. And the punters will blindly follow the propaganda and all too soon forget that the new faces in government didn't make their life any easier.

Pretty much. I have not heard any aboriginal spokesperson state what they mean by sovereignty. Or what they actually want as an outcome. My impression is that there is a desire to be deemed as a group to be an autonomous nation within a nation, with the ability to set their own laws, etc. For a start it would be their first unification of hundred or so aboriginal nations in over 40,000 years. Quite an achievement in itself. Secondly, I am confused as to how they see it working. Do they really want to set their sovereign nation administration up to oversee the present monarchic one? (I think some do). Do they just wish to charge rent as some suggest? I doubt it, but I can only speculate as I don't think the proponents (as a group) have any idea themselves.

I think that democracy as practiced by the US Democrat Party, was partly ok but overall insipid. Had Kamala announced a pactical plan to restructure the electoral system and to suspend arms supply to Netanyahu, she would have been seen to offer decisive leadership. That's what the public wanted. But she seemed to offer too much of 'same old'. The next 4 years are bound to see some good come out of the Republicans. But unless Trump makes a total change of behaviour, there will be damaging turmoil too.

Totally agree with everything about media reporting. I cant question the legal issues (I've no law training) but it makes sense to me. The only BUT that I can see is the issue of repeat criminal acts. Counter to the comment quoted above, I ask:- How many incarcerated individuals are first time offenders? I don't know for sure but I suspect that our jails have quite a high percentage of inmates who have been in for prior offenses. Rehabilitation is not a fantastic success story in the history of jails. Personally I consider that ankle monitoring should be compulsory for at least a period of time after release - where there is any doubt about that person's behaviour.
