  1. That's simply irrefutaproof that Americans don't do irony. They can't seem to get their heads around the fact that every true blue, gun totin redneck and white supremacist is directly descended from migrants.
  2. I wasn't taking sides and that was my only point. I am athiest. That works for me. But until science can provide concrete proof of what brought about the Initial Singularity, science cannot answer the eternal question, either.
  3. Really, Jerry. Every body is entitled to a belief structure that works for them. You dont have to go to such great length to justify your own, nor to impose yours onto others. We each will never know the answer (if there is one) until after we take our last breath. Whatever the origin of matter and the the universe is, it would totally amaze us wherever we stand on the god issue - we have no terms of reference nor the mental capacity to cope with any of the possibilities.
  4. Musk is betting TRump will be busy with revenge. Happy so long as TRump gives him free rein to do whatever he wants. They are both ruthless and self obsessed.
  5. As yet it looks like russia is not using Iranian ballistic missiles or fuel. However, is it possible that some of the Isreali strikes on Iranian weapons manufacturing might also affect the Shahed manufacturing? I don't think the Isrealis would much like the drones.
  6. We are rumbling slowly along the path to ww3. Fortunately for me, barring surprise upsets, it won't happen in my lifetime. Sadly, we mortal plebs won't have any say in it.
  7. Hey I'd vote for that!
  8. A Guardian new article: "Satellite images obtained by Reuters appears to confirm that the Israeli attacks hit buildings that Iran used for mixing solid fuel for ballistic missiles." Will this affect Pootens war on Ukraine? He has been sourcing Iranian drones.

    Funny videos

I ditched farcbook years ago. The only liferstyle suffering I have is when I can't play Red's funny videos.
  10. Election? You call that an election? There hasn't been even one attempted assassination! Boring!
  11. IMHO it should be required reading in schools. Along with A. HUXLEY'S "Brave New World". I heard that DT wants to disband their Education Department and replace it with a Ministry of Truth (or some such name in newspeak)
  12. Look up "John Cleese Life after Death" on youtoob. A bit drawn out but unexpectedly interesting.
  13. OME I am disappointed that you saw value in starting a thread just for this. I don't think it is worth the paper it's written on.
  14. I wouldn't take Packers experience as being representative afterlife information for the general public. He saw nothing. Perhaps because neither heaven nor hell wanted him.
  15. Karma Harris?
  16. The 800 series and the old black bakelite ones generally come up like new on a buffing wheel. Probably of value to moviemakers as period props. I see the old black bakelite ones in antique stores for about $50. So - not a great investment. The hundred year old american oak phones seem to bring a couple of hundred dollars - probably less than they originally cost by the time you allow for inflation.
  17. Alexander Graham Bell famously invented the telephone. Nobody was impressed until he invented a second one. As yet, I haven't found anybody with another phone to call, either.
  18. You are indeed lucky. I can't remember that far back.
  19. I finished restoring the 100 year old phone ring generator. Best of all, it now works! It produces 70 volts when cranked. I started a new project - I progressed through everything needed - most importantly I finished it. And it works. My ego needed the boost. Now all I have to do is repeat, repeat, repeat with all the unfinished stuff around me.
  20. That's marriage!
  21. Looking more like a home and less like a demolition site!

Any coincidence that in the leadup to the US election we seem to get lots of new forumites?
  23. Historically Lydia has been promoting various agendas for the aboriginsl peoples. As such her agenda has little efficacacy as a 'voice in the wilderness' unless she enters the political arena with the support of a majority of voters to support her. She got that but was forced to agree to an uncomfortable allegiance to promote her agenda.. I don't agree with a lot of her stuff but that is how the system works
  24. What did Warren do to get a tomato named after him?
  25. My (ex) wife was a nurse and at one time worked briefly at a STD clinic. As she plunged the needle into the patient for their blood test she delighted in saying "Just a quick little prick and it'll all be over". Nurses can be cruel.
