  1. In any casw it is a generalisation created by a noisy minority (a long time ago), and cannot be used to denigrate any specific person.
  2. I think that means the doc did a good job. The steroid has to go into the right spot for it to work. I had a steroid shot into my hand - when doc warned me 'this will hurt' I was sceptical. But lucky for me she got a nurse to hold my hand down to the table otherwise I would have involuntarily flinched and ruined her aim. It stopped hurting after a couple of weeks.
  3. Smart to focus on moving the action away from the ground front as much as possible. It is their only hope.
  4. Pity about that My present driveway is 10 - 15 degrees. My previous driveway was 15 - 22 degrees. No contractor was interested - said that it was too dangerous to work machinery on it and compaction would be impossible. So I bought a Bobcat and did it myself. Then sprayed coal tar emulsion surface to stop it washing away when it rained. This was on the escarpment north of Twba. The view was worth it.
  5. I have heard that butt enhancement surgery is popular. Possibly the one disfigurement on the planet that is as misguided as tatts
  6. Always ask. And if you are on something for a long time, ask again. Especially ask "are there any interactions with my other medications?" A regular review sometimes results in fine tuning the prescriptions.
  7. I booked a slipway for 4 days to do routine antifoul on my boat. Summer should be nice an warm, right? Day one came around - cool, windy and drizzle. But I managed to pressure wash a lot of gunk. Day two was 13 degrees, showers and gusting 30 kts. I didn’t get much done before going home for a hot shower. Day 3 and it got cold, rainy and gusting 40kts. It would blow the paintbrush out of your hand. Too wet to paint anyway. I managed to negotiate a extra day. Day 4 and the weather's improved. At last the hull is dry. Rain stopped and wind dropped. So did the temp. Temp might momentarily go right up to 13. But the fine print on the paint tin says 'only apply at 16 - 30 degrees Celsius'. Gripe - winds are always perverse.
  8. And that is why they are an endangered species. They can't breed as fast as they get eaten
  9. Which is why I prefer not to click on any of his youtube vids.
  10. I can't bear to listen to 'ole woolly's voice again. Just tell me the guts of it. Should only take two sentences.
  11. We all would be. As long as I can still get myself a nice bottle of red whenever I want.
  12. Ask Alexa, she would know
  13. 'On?' Or 'On about?'
  14. The law can be an ass, and justice is a commodity
  15. Well last time I was at a weighbridge, I weighed the vehicle on 'what it sits on'. And it sat on it's tyres. And the number is called the GVM.
  16. We are agonising unnecessarily over semantics. Obviously the wheels are part of the vehicle weight. Equally obviously, the weight of the wheel adds to the weight on the road. The terminology developed around 'axle loading' is often a simplified description that bureaucrats used in an effort to quantify road damage and the engineering requirements to design bridges, etc, to safely support vehicles . Perhaps other terms would be more accurate. But really, we all seem to know what we are talking about.
  17. The man may have stepped down, but the mechanisms will remain for decades.
  18. That depends on your point of view. I took it literally. If you measured axle weight AT THE AXLE, Spacey is right. Your official perspective on 'axle weight' is based on a misnomer. The regs are talking about what I call 'road contact weight per wheel'.
  19. I hear that Ukraine is asking the Australian government for our old Abrams tanks. They are scheduled for replacement soon. I hope that doesn't trigger the defence department to immediately scrap and bury them.
  20. I think Spacey is referring to terminology. Regulations can refer to 'axle weight'
  21. When something is outstanding, Marty, it is easy to find.
  22. 4WD - imagine the balance issue when the tyre is clogged with mud!
  23. Curiously, Michelin do not mention the weight, compared with conventional hollow tyres. If they are lighter, they reduce the unsprung weight, which in turn improves the comfort of the ride. Nor does it compare the deflection resistance. But it does imply that although they have double the mileage, they are more expensive. Cost per mile up or down?
  24. I cant see either of those videos - "Not available in your country ". But I get the gist. I agree totally with pmccarthy. Sure this world is carp with disasters. Natural, man made and political. But that was indeed the case when I was young. Wars, unrest, pollution, constant threat of nuclear annihilation. But I didn’t go around blaming my parents for 'leaving' me a bad world. My parents, grandparents had WW1 and the great depression, followed by WW2. That was the world turning to crap for them, too. SSDD Same Shyte Different Day.
  25. Except when it doesn't. Recently flights over me - due north (from antarctica?) Do not show uo on Flightradar24.
