She’s off to a good start and Trump and the GOP are trying to land punches on a new target with not much success so far. The Democrats are suddenly feeling a lot better about their chances in November, but there is a long way to go. At the very least it’s become a closer and more interesting contest. She might even pull it off, especially if her VP running mate is a strong performer.

Latest definitive statement from the FBI as reported in the SMH: “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement. So it was definitely a bullet but possibly a fragment. Mystery solved.

If that’s all that ‘Taking a bullet for Democracy’ involves, it doesn’t much to be a selfless hero.

Trump also has a sentencing hearing coming up in September unless he squirms out of it again. But bad timing for him if it goes ahead. He shouldn't have appealed it and just got it out of the way. His supporters don't care about it, but now it will just focus negative attention on him again much closer to the the election. Harris seems to have got off to a good start, and win or lose, will be a lot more effective than Joe could have been.

If nothing else they are now in with a decent chance of giving Trump a run for his money. With Joe they had no chance. I think the Democrats may invite challengers to her nomination but there won’t be any takers. If she picks a running mate from one of the key states it could be a good combination. If she challenges Trump to weekly debates like he bragged he would with Joe it could get interesting. Trump couldn’t handle risking losing a debate to a much younger woman of colour.

The question is who else will throw their hat in the ring. Gretchen Whitmer has said she won’t challenge.

Joe has finally seen the writing on the wall and decided to pull out and endorse Kamala. The question is whether she or anyone else can make much difference.

Joe's job suddenly got a lot harder, and whether or not he steps aside for Kamala Harris or someone else probably won't make much difference at this point. Still, with four months to go, a lot could happen.

His luck seems never ending. The judge in the Documents case who was supposed to put him on trial decided to put the special prosecutor, Jack Smith on trial instead and found him guilty of being unqualified to bring any charges against Trump.

Image means everything to Trump. It's all he's ever had to try and cover up his deeply flawed character.
