I've often wondered whether Trump says the things he does purely instinctively or has some kind of plan in mind for playing to his audience. In other words is he actually shrewd, cunning, thinking on his feet and always well ahead of the game, or is he fundamentally a fool and just spouting whatever comes into his head, going off in all directions and hoping something lands that he can respond to and exploit further.
-
Even if he loses, unless it's in a clear landslide which is probably unlikely, he will again say the election was rigged and stolen. His followers will believe him and he won't go quietly. On the other hand if he wins, chances are it will be due to his cronies in the swing states who have been plotting in the background for months and who WILL have rigged the outcome in his favour.

Experience gives you the ability to recognise the same mistake when you make it again.

Josh Shapiro would be up there too.

He and Michelle endorsed her last week.

I think Pete is very smart and articulate, but the combination of a woman of colour and a gay guy might cause a bit of apoplexy among the more conservative fence-sitters they have to try to get over the line.

Well, it was worth a try. Hopefully your technique improved in time.

No shortage of spare tyres there.

She's selective. She doesn't swear all the time, and it's usually reserved for when she's talking to certain friends. I think it's mostly a performance, but why she thinks she needs to put on a show beats me.
-
I’ve never liked swearing and although I may mutter a word or two under my breath to myself when I’m doing something that’s not going right, I never swear in conversation.. I’m not offended by others swearing and even my kids do at times and also my wife. She never used to swear but these days when she’s angry or talking to some of her friends she swears like a trooper. That really irritates me, especially if it’s directed at me. I think I must be a bit odd, but then a lot depends on context. An Irish site manager I knew made sentences twice as long as they needed to be by making every second word a variation of ‘f..k’, but it was such a natural part of his conversation that it seemed quite normal.

My mistake. Should have paid more attention to the number of dashes like Marty did. Still PieTin works if you also ignore the fact that it's two words.

She’s off to a good start and Trump and the GOP are trying to land punches on a new target with not much success so far. The Democrats are suddenly feeling a lot better about their chances in November, but there is a long way to go. At the very least it’s become a closer and more interesting contest. She might even pull it off, especially if her VP running mate is a strong performer.

Try sitting down Nev. I'm told it works better than standing.

Latest definitive statement from the FBI as reported in the SMH: “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement. So it was definitely a bullet but possibly a fragment. Mystery solved.

If that’s all that ‘Taking a bullet for Democracy’ involves, it doesn’t much to be a selfless hero.

How about this: Trump was on the square stage in front of the the stands at the end of the walkway and was facing toward the gunman at the time. The person who was killed was reported as being behind Trump, but I don't know whether that means the stand directly behind the stage or more likely the angled stand lower down. Here's another view the day after:

Or more likely just add a line: " And send the ba****ds home once more"

Trump also has a sentencing hearing coming up in September unless he squirms out of it again. But bad timing for him if it goes ahead. He shouldn't have appealed it and just got it out of the way. His supporters don't care about it, but now it will just focus negative attention on him again much closer to the the election. Harris seems to have got off to a good start, and win or lose, will be a lot more effective than Joe could have been.
-
If nothing else they are now in with a decent chance of giving Trump a run for his money. With Joe they had no chance. I think the Democrats may invite challengers to her nomination but there won’t be any takers. If she picks a running mate from one of the key states it could be a good combination. If she challenges Trump to weekly debates like he bragged he would with Joe it could get interesting. Trump couldn’t handle risking losing a debate to a much younger woman of colour.

The question is who else will throw their hat in the ring. Gretchen Whitmer has said she won’t challenge.
