SBS now give the weather forecast using a map on which the normal capital city names have been replaced with their Aboriginal names - presumably the local place names as the inhabitants at the time couldn't possibly have named cities that hadn't been founded yet. I don't have a problem with acknowledging historically significant Aboriginal cultural sites and traditions, but I think renaming the cities is ridiculous.

There are no decent candidates on either side. The Democrats don’t seem to have anyone other than Joe. He’s pretty level headed and generally doing OK but really ought to give it away due to his age. I wouldn’t see myself as a Republican but my choice would be Liz Cheney, about the only Republican with any integrity - which means she’d have no chance of winning.

When you listen to his bluster and obvious exaggeration, lies, conspiratorial delusions and crazy promises, I’m amazed that anyone with a grain of commonsense could be taken in. Yet his followers hang on every word and think he’s their greatest president ever. I almost wish he would win again just to prove once again what an incompetent and vindictive moron he is, but it would be the end of any semblance of responsible government in America and trigger a new world order. I hope he ends up in jail well before the election but I’m not sure that will happen either.

He was a bit short on detail to explain how he was going to accomplish this feat of international diplomacy.

That was wrong and the author of the video posted a correction in the comments on the uTube version.

Good summary but nobody in America will believe it.

I’d say that if I was spying on you.

More than a passing resemblance!

Trump would be quite happy to have multiple opponents to belittle and abuse because it will increase his chances of winning. The more he lashes out and the more outrageous his behaviour becomes the more his supporters will get behind him. I hope this opposition group is successful. It will be a disaster if Trump gets back in

I worked with Fullerton once at Charles Gairdner Hospital. He was the hospital’s project manager for a job I was working on as part of a multi-disciplinary team. He used to sit in on our design meetings. He was a smug know-it-all type and never short of something to say. I’m not surprised he was caught rorting the system. Turns out he wasn’t that smart after all.

Looking forward to the next episode. Luckily not all public servants are the same, but there are obviously also a lot of Yes Minister types in influential places. I wonder if Kathryn Campbell will lose her AO over this?

I don’t think China would directly supply Putin with weapons but they might provide chips and fabricate components that Putin or his allies like Iran need to make weapons. Good outcome economically for China while at the same time they can maintain their show of apparent neutrality. Meanwhile the war keeps going and the US and the West keep feeling the strain while Putin becomes more dependent on his Chinese friend. That would suit Xi Jinping very nicely. He wins all around.

So far China seems to have been relatively neutral on the war in Ukraine, but I wonder if that may change given Xi Jinping’s upcoming meeting with Putin and his recent meeting with Wang Yi. If Putin starts getting support from Chins it won’t be a good for Ukraine’s future. On the other hand Xi Jinping won’t believe Putin’s propaganda and lies and might be happier to see this conflict end rather than escalate.

Apparently the fatality rate for people attempting the world water speed record is 85%. Not good odds. -

I think Putin is prepared to wage this war down to the last Russian. He can't afford stop even if he had second thoughts about continuing, which I'm sure he doesn't. About the only thing that will stop the war is Putin falling out of a high rise window.

Problem is the losers think they are winners.

Maybe you need a wasp flap in the flyscreen?

Great skill and very nicely judged. Right down the centre of the ramp without touching the sides. Actually the more I look at it the more I suspect it's a setup. He steers out of the skid and heads for the ramp.

Hopefully not a blank canvas.

Having just seen that woeful trailer for the first time, I think you made a good choice. -
Police make unbelievable find under couch in Perth home.

The area in question is most likely deep sands. Easy digging, but retaining the soil and supporting the floor of the building would need some engineering. Water table could also be quite close to the surface, but maybe deep enough not to flood the basement. -

Having all that stuff confiscated would amount to a pretty hefty fine. Must have cost a fair bit to buy so many guns and boxes of ammunition. -
I think he forgot his snorkel for the river crossing.
