The American public could probably supply the Ukrainians with more small arms and ammunition than their government could. I believe the population has acquired something like 100 million more guns since Sandy Hook ten years ago.
  2. Lost in translation from 2000 year old poorly hand-written Aramaic?

‘Marty for President’ gets my vote!
  4. If he really is on his way out he will be even more willing to play ‘double or nothing’ with Ukraine and NATO.

    Barnaby booted.

... or he'll be kicked out before the next election.
  6. Mostly news and current affairs programs on ABC or SBS, and some documentaries. The wife loves all British crime and drama series and comedy quizzes, but even though they're generally quality programs, the endless sameness bores me to tears, although I don't mind the odd Outback Truckers, Wheeler Dealers or Alone type programs and Foyles War re-runs on 7. We also have Netflix but I've only watched a handful of movies in the last couple of years. If there's nothing worth watching on TV - which is often, I usually turn to music, aviation related, documentary or how-to videos on uTube. Failing that, I read a book.
  7. It will be interesting to see if Morrison gets a shadow portfolio. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets relegated to the back bench to keep him away from the cameras and stop him reminding people of one of the reasons they booted the Liberals out.
  8. They made Scomo hand in his resignation. That's historic enough.
  9. Stop worrying. I’m sure they’d be open and transparent about how they felt.
  10. As long as the windows are not offended I don't see a problem.
  11. Don't think his mother will see his name on any Russian exchange lists after this interview. Probably just as well for his sake.
  12. Saying he’s going to change at this late stage just invites ridicule. Seems like a bad tactical mistake.
  13. Much as I’m keen to support Ukraine, that’s a very big ask Marty. I’m not sure I’m up to it.
  14. She gave a concert in our small country town once in the 1960’s. She was just as good at classical as she was at honky-tonk.
  15. Wonder if he'd risk an anaesthetic or try to live up to his macho image and stay awake. I'm sure he'd be worried that once he was under everyone might pack up and go home.
  16. Living with uncertainty can be uncomfortable, but belief without doubt on the basis of ancient religious texts seems an impossible combination to me.
  17. If he declares war on Ukraine and starts conscription, the Russian population won't be happy. They may soon begin to question whether this `special operation' is going as well as they've been told, and that maybe the fringe protesters are on to something after all. I can't see that conscription and war is going to enhance Putin's popularity in Russia. It would be a risky step for him to take politically.
  18. I’d say sometime during the 1980’a.

    Cyclones

They would have achieved slightly more success by tossing a coin.
  20. Thanks for the correction. I think there’s about 140 episodes so you’ll need more than a bit of spare time. I remember when the Endeavour replica was being built, and also saw the Duyfken under construction in front of the old maritime museum in Fremantle. Hard to imagine how many forests have been cut down over the centuries to build ships.
  21. ..... a few episodes back they’re fitting the deck framing and deck planks. All the framing has dovetailed joints. Worth a look if you’ve got some time.
  22. Speaking of tools and craftsmanship, this guy and a few of his mates are re-building/building a 1910 fishing schooner called `Tally-Ho'. He puts out regular videos showing their progress. They've been at it now for quite a while now, but are nearing the finishing stages. They started by literally felling trees and milling the timber. Their craftsmanship is superb - everything fits! Granted they're using a lot of modern tools, but so much is still done with hand-planes, chisels and handsaws and sandpaper. I've been following their videos on and off for a while. I like boats anyway, and am in awe of the effort these guys are putting in and the quality of the results. This is their latest video:
  23. Another irritant heard on every news bulletin on TV is "Let's take a listen" . Take it where? A listen is not an object you can take anywhere!
  24. Judging by the typical condition of the Russian tanks hit by missiles, their crews probably (fortunately) never knew what hit them. I would imagine the surviving tank crews would be some of the more nervous troops currently manning the front lines.
  25. I doubt that Trump would have cared. He would be more likely to say "Ukraine! I should never have given them all that money! What have they ever done for me? That clown Zelensky couldn't even find any dirt on Hunter Biden. Putin can do whatever he likes. He told me Ukraine was always part of Russia anyway and belongs to him, and I believe him. And who needs NATO, anyway? They've been ripping us off for years, and now they want to give all their weapons to Ukraine for free. They're a bunch of idiots. America First!"
