I thought it was the Ostrich that sticks it head on the sand.

What a complete bullshitter. I can see why he is the ex Ansto director. Build plants in anti nuclear countries as comparison? Bullshit France , UK and Korea are all pro and costs are outrageous. The world atomic energy body ( IAEA) agrees it is too expensive and not suited to Australia. Nothing that bloke said was anything like true.

The stolen gen still exists, I have a friend whose mother was kidnapped by ' white saviours' from her family and sent to Parramatta girls factory as a 'slave' for white people. The were sent to homes as servants. She was raped and blamed as a delinquent. This was the late 70's . She was then sent to Hay as a virtual prisoner, the prison was closed to prisoners due to inhumane conditions but good enough for black girls. Her, son was taken and given to a ultra religious white family, he is in his 40's. It has seriously affected them all.

Last time I had a lab test was a disaster. The chocolate bugger refused to follow protocols and was often found in the act of breaking and digesting anything in the fridge or cupboards. Any attempts at chasing kittens resulted in a cyclonic destructive path indoors. The Lab when asked to do precision health care is similar to a unguided chainsaw. I was warned by the doctor but believed the blind dogs were cool. I just failed to realise the irony. Not only did the bloody Lab ignore the kittens on the second test, but immediately burst through the screen door. Later found in the kitchen of the neighbours, devouring a frozen chicken. Having had all these problems previously, I have chosen a specialist assassin for the job. The idea of a rampaging meat obsessed Labrador doing brain surgery on me was too much. Both kittens have been removed, and cuddled up to Chihuahua. They see the little killer as boss, not to be fucked with, but friends with respect. My sinuses are better than ever and no scratching inside the skull. The final report after extensive painful testing is Labradors are high cost, low precision devices for anything other than demolition and excavation. Collateral damage has proven to be as high as 10:1 kitten. As a military device the Labradors only use can be as a strategic weapon to go behind enemy lines. Once deployed in force the labrador brigade can destroy all food and wiring of the enemy. As a agent of chaos it may find a role. The Labradors ability to make war grade gas combined with copious large land mines would prove additionally beneficial. It was agreed by the medical and military council that the use of a Labrador would be a case of biological warfare. The chairman Chihuahua saw a excellent idea and agreed with their advice and has deployed them on the enemy.

Spacey, You think humans were around 50 million years ago? Did they just leave? Were they Spaced out? Your drugs must be better than mine. -
So if that averages per month, then it's $4,620 a year just on energy at home. Add in fuel for a car and a home solar/ battery and EV car makes a lot of sense.

Oddball was his absolute best character. The series Crossing Lines on Sbs has him in a lead role, also excellent. -
Yes, The pancake were twin carb with a large driven fan horizontal on the top. A big leap in space efficiency and better reliability.

Its ok , the RSPCA have done an inspection and approved the removal method for my kittens. They provided a small Chihuahua to chase them out via my Mediterranean nose . I have asked the pup to go via both sinuses to clean out the kitty litter. Then it's a visit from Bugs Bunny to clean the carrots from my ears.

I remember my old Vw type 3 wagon, it had the flat rear floor with the pancake motor and a huge front boot? Bootylicious

Nationalisation of the grid is a good idea, by that I mean the network infrastructure and overall management of pricing. The means of production for a renewable economy exist all onshore, but we dig it up. We develop the tech, like solar but it's imported from China, because Howard refused to invest. We are now investing in a local solar panel plant at Liddell, the old power station. One Dutton wants as Nuclear. Coincidence? The generation in some states is already private and government mixes. For renewables the private market has billions to spend and are eager to happily compete on very cheap power. The government could contract private companies to build, then it's gov owned and managed. Inherent in such a design is the cheapest to meet the needs and regulations get built. So nuclear is a dead duck. The proper management of a grid at cost is the goal. It's not for profit but rather to provide cheap stable power that's carbon and other pollutants free. It would mean cheap power anywhere in Australia for everyone, not bullshit where you get ripped off blind having the wrong deal. Power systems currently have rent seekers at every level and a pricing system that rewards bad behaviour from coal generators which generates them huge profits. The competitive market idea in Australia , is actually a perfect example of what economists call " market failure". It is extremely inefficient for an essential service, and has inbuilt profiteering by design. The customer and government carry the cost and risk, while the profits go mainly untaxed to investors, often overseas. To have a proper Nationalised grid would mean the cheap power for everyone including industry. The huge expense of power is what has killed manufacturing in Australia , we can be a high tech manufacturing base if power is cheap. Fundamentally, a carbon tax must be included to ensure actual costs are realised rather than pollutants been uncosted. By not actually taxing carbon and that includes in building a power source, we distort the market and subsidise heavily polluting. It would generate a huge amount of revenue, which can be invested into the power system. It would drive investment in efficiency for the economy and greater productivity whilst reducing costs. Power is the engine of our lives and the economy. The beauty is the Carbon tax must only be used to decarbonise/ pollutants by a electricized economy and for environmental projects. A electric economy includes transport and it's infrastructure of charging and solar/ battery production. A Carbon tax by design will reduce over time as the economy decarbonises, it's only paid if you pollute. Currently we have a Carbon credit system, it's bullshit. It's easily manipulated and the government gives rights to privately trade and create fake credits. The last LNP goons literally paid billions to big polluters for nothing. Carbon credits are a "Market failure" , same as water trading rights. It might seem left wing and Greenie and I am happily guilty as charged. It's also proper economics and the efficient use of capital in a regulated market economy. It's a example of "social economics" which is the government providing the best fundamentals for the basics and regulations, to allow the market/ people to thrive in a positive rather than negative feedback loop. This when combined with a understanding that we are sustained by our environment, leads to economic theory of ecology. Hence " Social Ecology" is the big picture which takes into account all the systems at play, everything is connected and has effects to everything else. This means everything has costs and can be a + or-, just like any organism in our greater ecology. If it is a negative influence, the ecology changes to make it positive/ evolution or it dies out. It's a positive feedback system when healthy. Currently all the big negative influences get rewarded by rampant capitalism and it's a destructive negative feedback to doom.

1. It's from the mad nut jobs at the daily mail. Who are renowned for click baiting and misrepresentation of people's comments to suit their pro LNP agenda. 2. If Dick Smith is pro Duttwitts plans, than I expect his mind at 80 has deteriorated badly. He was always a Greenie at heart. He did start Australian Geographic magazine and it's researchers from his own pocket, the environment not profit was the rationale. Red, if you use the Daily Mail as a source, it's hard to have a informed discussion.

All whilst getting richer just like their pollute and perish mates. Just look at all the former LNP government goons getting huge consulting deals etc for the nuclear subs they forced in before the election. They see a pot of gold in their future and will destroy the planet to get it.

If South Korea are building at $20 billion in the UAE, that's $30 billion in Australian dollars approx. Now account for the UAE been a dictatorship and mainly sand and rock. Also the labour would be similar as the World cup, ie basically slaves to do the vast non technical construction. So using fair wages and conditions, we would easily take twice as long and cost a lot more. More like $40 billion Aus is realistic for a similar reactor. Which will make the same power as $2 billion in solar and battery storage or wind, which keeps getting cheaper. The LNP are fuckin nuts to think of this as a winner.
-
It's not 1950 anymore and those plants were built by barging through legislation and in days of little regulation and massive amounts of cheap labour, materials and been subsidised and force-fed for speed by the military nuclear industry. We don't have any of those conditions anymore and have zero knowledge on doing it. Everything including most staff and all engineering, machinery, management and building services will be privatised and foreign made and owned. They only thing Australian, will be our unique ability to throw 100's billions at bad ideas and cause our economy to become burdened by insane power costs baked in for 50 years.

I had a CAT scan on my brain 🧠 for a strange sound I kept hearing ... They found two kittens scratching to get out.

Building a nuclear plant in 48 months? Absolute bullshit. Never happened and not possible. Even the Chinese admit they are far over budget and behind schedule. 10-15 years is the absolute minimum and that assumes you know how to build one. If the Chinese fail to meet targets and they can steamroller any opposition or environment issues, what hope do we have? The CSIRO estimates are extremely generous and are likely to be 200-300% higher when completed. Have a look at Sellarfield in the UK, will end up the world's slowest build and most expensive power in history. Let's not forget the cost to decomission is close to the cost of building one.

Either way.. He died doing what he loved and in a way that reminds us of his achievements that will forever affect life on Earth. His Earth rise photo changed the way we see the fragile planet that sustains us. It gave a huge boost to the environment movement and science that is fundamental to our existence. That one photo is far more important than a footprint on the moon. I hope they bury his plane with him, it's what I'd want as my coffin. -

Religion is just a means of control, wealth and war. It always has been and always will be. Religion is a system of indoctrination of an imaginary being one that's all powerful but only works through the deeds of those that believe. It is a system of exceptionalism, hence it's believers or those that claim membership are above all others. The rest are heathens, atheists, apostates or just not on the team. As such they are less human and not worthy of God's love or care nor his worshipped. Given all their doctrines and actions, with countless millions butchered... Religion is the root of Evil -
I do remember the Paragon in Goulburn and in Katoomba. The epitome of cafe milk bar culture, not just icecream or splits but hand made chocolates to salivate on. A visit to the Paragon was very seductive.

Don't get me wrong here, But I LIKE Donald Trump.
Litespeed replied to Phil Perry's topic in Politics
OME, He is a convicted felon, a known fraudster who has demonstrated a clear attitude by his constant utterances and actions-that the law and its officers, jurors and witnesses are to be mocked and targetted with hateful speech. That the law does not apply to him. He has been found in contempt of court 10 times. Trump was not jailed for contemptuous behaviour because of the political storm it would create. He is also in the same district - New York City, proven in court, a sexual abuser (rapist) to a civilian standard. He has also clearly formented armed rebellion against his own country, it's Constitution and the rule of law. All the above are admissible in any sentencing, in so much as it indicates the propensity of the felon to follow the law or willingly break it. The character of the felon is admissible, that is the basis on which a court makes sentencing decisions. He has been given incredible leeway by the judge that could not be expected by anyone. The politics of a electioneering presidential candidate and the division of society are the limiting factor. He has been given compassion by the court. To expect him to surrender his weapon, irrespective of its "residence" is plain common sense. It is not in any way "unduly harsh" to surrender his remaining weapon within the time given. He could even just have a lackey bring it in a private jet to the court. Or shockingly send it registered post or courier , which is common in the USA. He has no excuse of difficulty in surrendering the weapon. His personal crap and electioneering are completely irrelevant as they do not on any way affect his ability to meet the order of the court. OME, I applaud your career and discretion as a officer, but it's not kicking him whilst his down. "He is the bloke mouthing off, spitting at your feet and saying he is a sovereign citizen, after you pull him over for beating his wife in a stolen car. And the officer asks politely can he surrender the shotgun on the backseat." We should remember the Law , its application and justness in sentencing are meant to be blind to the power and wealth of the citizen. The only possible justification by a court, not to sentence him to the full extent of the law, is the potential for civil unrest. This must not allow a easy ride, as it further erodes the rule of law and deterrence fundamentally. The law must be seen to be done. On his sentence, I would give him jail or home detention with no external communications, bar strict lawyer and family calls. He has been found guilty of fraudulent manipulation of a federal election. Or 1000hrs with Sundays off, of picking trash in community service. To allow him total freedom, would allow him to do the exactly same crime, which he has shown extreme contemptuous intent. Sentencing should always address the criminal behaviour, intent, character, contrition and potential for further criminal behaviour. He is not a good bloke who had a bad day. -

Farage is a big danger, but not yet on Trumps level of proven malicious destruction of democratic norms and illegality. I would have thought Farage would be getting votes mainly from the conservative side, not Labour voters.
