Meth.......2013 ??..........i'm 2016. I'm having difficulty with your 17hrs etc........will chase up my logbook, all the info will be there, about extended hrs, and the like. Even so...17hrs solo...noway, but i'm checking.

the days of truckies ( HC and MC ) doing huge hrs is long gone. Transport inspectors are all over it, logbooks are the first thing you pass out your window, any....any errors you make in them....you get slammed, big time. Yes.....you can "fiddle".....a bit, however being caught out, and you will be at some point, the consequences will seriously dent your hip pocket. Transport coppers, have in place methods to track your days,hrs, movements. They know to the hr, how long it takes from "A....to B "..( town to town, city to city ) they open your logbook, do some simple maths, check "their" data, if the 2 don't gel...........good luck Already trialling electronic logging in heavy vehicles, it's tamper proof, they pull you up, plugin their computor, download content.........everything, everything shows up. Another method also being trialled.....is "tracking". Both these methods will eventually be mandatory. A growing number of companies are running 2 drivers per truck, allows long distance movements. Insurance Co's now wipe their hands of you, if accidents can be attributed to fatigue caused by excessive hrs, and/or "fudged" log books. Sadly........the "big transport" companies, are strangling owner drivers, forcing many to "contract driving" to the big players, on big players terms. It's that......or no work. Big "receivers" of freight, engage the big transport companies..........more and more. Smaller operators, owner drivers etc, in the main, are loosing the battle, and it's bloody wrong. Same thing when big retailer opens store in country locale......the long established "local store" is lucky to survive. "loyalty" towards the local store, slowly deminishes.....we go for the cheaper supplier.....it's only a matter of time. Read recently....woolies, are keen to setup their own pharmacies in their stores, they'll find a way to do it. ( goodbye local pharmacies ).......what's next.

chap stepped off the footpath, hit by bus, died...........spoze he should've been wearing hiviz, maybe bus should've miraculously just levitated over him. Numbers of folks every yr drown at our beaches......even patrolled ones, yea, let's ban swimming at beaches........unsafe. Accidents happin.....unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Reading some posts here, exposes the rediculous pathway, safety is heading. It's now an industry, employs officers/consultants/ trainers/trainers of trainers/paper shufflers/on and on, it goes. Little wunder more and more firms seek off shore facilities, as our incentives / our rules, are just strangling folks. This "now" safety direction, is just crazy.

spend more, eat more, drink more.....forgot...fly more. In a nut shell...........do anything, but MORE of it. If you love your tucker etc, and weight is gaining...........why pain yourself and eat shyte, jog everyday, ride a bicycle in lycra..........it's all pain. Lifes short, eat drink yourself to death, lovin every minute of it.

Mate works as a driver for a large transport co.......every driver is issued a largish o/nite type bag, they must carry at all times.........contains, hardhat..hiviz vest..first aid kit.. raincoat..safety specs..ear plugs..plus 2..3 other things i can't recall, ..........they drive trucks, they do 3 days induction.....and every week they sign off a "toolbox" sheet about some bullsh!t topic. Kids, at school, are discouraged from "risky" activities, they are wrapped in cotton wool more and more. Kids run / ride / walk, straight out onto pedestrian crossings, knowing they can demand any vehicle at any distance..........TO STOP. Might just be the one vehicle approaching the crossing, but kids now won't wait, let the vehicle pass, before the kids cross the road. The buggers ride their bicycles along the footpath, then cool as pull straight out onto the ped crossings. We have created "school zones" lower speed limits that's ok, but it's also embedding further disregard into the kids for their own self management / awareness etc. Fast forward 10yrs ......the mind just boggles.

More and more the use of "fluro" shirts / vests is being demanded by employers. Just today at woolies servo, attendant spent several minutes looking for a vest to wear, before stepping out to the pumps. When questioned by the waiting driver ( i was at the otherside pump ) attendant explained "vests" are to be worn whenever they enter a trafficeable ( spelt wrong ) area. "Traffic controllers".......stop / go, folks............it's a BOOMING industry. You can be driving out whoop whoop, tractor is slashing the verges, and there's 2 stop go folks there as well. Road could be 5 mile dead straight. Had me whinge.......feeling better now.

WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing? WITNESS: No.. ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor? WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar. ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless? WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

It's greed..............affects some, more than others. The "greedy" ones roost in the same trees, hence mates get their chances too. "Battlers".....average joe blow, just a speed bump to the high end club. "rules/fairness"........2 sets....... the "have not" rules, and the "have got" rules, the "have got" folks, set the rules for the "have not" folks, that's democracy folks, and it's not going to change.
