It's great... if he doesn't mind cold water. Even at the peak of summer water temperature is only around 17 degrees. -
Celebrating Positives (offset of the Gripes Thread)

Went for a snorkel off Coningham this morning (bloody freezing - 8 degrees on land and felt like not much more in the water) - and my wife got to try out our new waterproof camera. Despite the cold - hanging out with all the little fish was amazing. Schools and schools of them. Plus the occasional big wrasse. -
Collingwood supporters maybe?

The climate change debate continues.

Good spot for them. Low to the ground, prevents buildings with possible human casualties being put on the approaches to the runways. -
Usually they just make you urn, until you're in your coffin...
-
I think they've named that "shrinkflation".

My Dad worked for a coffin manufacturer in Brisbane about 40 years ago. Managed to nail himself to a piece of timber once. Should have called him Jesus.

Sky News are almost as stupid as Trump. Our GST is not equivalent to any sort of tariff as it doesn't differentiate where the product is coming from. An Australian product attracts GST too so there is absolutely no protectionism there.

It wasn't a failed nation before, but it's going that way fast.

You should have said "I'm not coffin up that much!"

If it were truly Country, it'd be "Poultry in Motion"... -
So Dickhead has made noises about banning Australian beef because we won't buy theirs. Why won't we buy theirs? Because they had mad cow disease a couple of years back, so it's a biosecurity risk. (Now they have a mad steer running their country). What will be the consequence? Well, the US hasn't got enough beef because of the ongoing shortages internally. So we'll sell to other countries at the same price we would have sold it to the yanks, and they will put a mark-up on it and sell it on to the US. Meanwhile, that third country is subject to larger tariffs than Australia, say 20% instead of 10%, so Trump's burger, still made with Australian beef, costs him about 40% more than it would have if they just kept buying from Australia, and nobody else loses out. Own goal!

This is how you drive people to the radical parties in politics

Ask your chauffeur what he thinks. -
So... the USA has a bill of rights? Not sure it's worth doing then...

Something tells me this is made up. "Seamore" Naval Hospital?
-
That would be Clive.
-
Or the US president.
-
Gina and Clive are the Tubby Trump Twins. Dogey Dutton sings from the same songbook. My vote will go to people diametrically opposite to all of them.
-
Is there a lot of talk about government waste, or is it just public service-bashing from Dutton's team? I'll tell you what waste is. It's conservative governments getting rid of public service jobs, then paying far more money to labour hire companies to provide temporary staff (who don't get paid as well) to do the work of the public servants they replace.
-
If you judge a person by the company they keep, then check out who Dutton's best bud and paymaster is hanging out with. Just to join the dots: - Dutton wants to be PM - Dutton's party gets a huge amount of funding from Gina - Dutton and Gina are friends - Gina has previously made statements like working people should be paid $2 a day - Gina hangs out with Trump mega supporters - Trump has laid off thousands of public servants - Dutton wants to lay off thousands of public servants Blind Freddy can see that if you vote for Dutton, you're voting for the same craziness that's killing democracy in the US right now. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/mar/31/a-female-donald-trump-how-gina-rinehart-is-pushing-trumps-message-australia-ntwnfb

Fabulous buried coin collection to be auctioned

"For the church"? "Pour le Bistrot" would be more accurate I reckon -
Yep. Head injury on a kid... Seen very quickly. Chest pains in 50yo man... Seen very quickly. Our doctors and nurses do a brilliant job in the vast majority of cases. They are committed and usually work far more hours than they should, as they're understaffed - because states want to spend money on a football stadium (insert your state's white elephant here) instead of funding, training and paying health professionals properly.
