  1. From Vlad "compensating for something" Putin? Who would have thought?
  2. Well he wouldn't be wrong there, would he?
  3. That's what I said too, but apparently a statutory write-off means that car cannot be re-registered. So you'd have to get the VIN from another chassis somehow which is what I guess they do at the dodgier chop shops.
  4. Mechanic told me the other day that Subaru XV headlights were $3,000 each. So if you've got an XV and hit something front on at 20km/h breaking both headlights, the front grill etc, the car will probably be a statutory writeoff. How the hell does this fit with the push to be able to repair stuff instead of wastefully writing off the whole thing?
  5. Great, now the cops are going to be called out as there's a chap dressed in nothing but gumboots and an ostrich feather doing interpretive dance within view of passers-by...
  6. I still remember a neighbour's older son teaching me to always cut away from myself. I would have been about 5 and he was 18 and already a fairly hardened criminal. He spent a lot of time in prison after that so his knife/shiv handling skills may have served him well.
  7. You were the only heathen in a room of bible thumpers? Brave man.
  8. The market definitely can't be allowed to run free like the neocons want, but it also can't be too controlled. There's a happy medium in there somewhere but I don't think the US, China or even us have it right.
  9. You could probably see the same in any "adult theatre" regardless of tectonic movement.
  10. That wasn't his porn star name, was it?
  11. How about those Idaho farm girls, are they still appearing?
  12. Big business. Which is why, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, we should outlaw all political donations. Everything. To anyone. Not a dollar to any political group. It wouldn't be rocket science for the AEC to work out and deliver an advertising & staff salary budget to every political party and Independent, based on a fair formula and kicking in under certain conditions. That way we all pay the political parties through the tax system, so there's no incentive for them to listen to lobby groups. To put it simply, he who pays the piper calls the tune. So if we sit back and let the Minerals Council of Australia or the Australian Christian Lobby give money to politicians instead of us doing so, we shouldn't whinge when the pollies listen to them.

  16. An ex-girlfriend's mother used to make "mock turkey" sandwiches, she'd whip up some sort of paste from various ingredients which surprisingly did taste like turkey. Not sure if it was vegetarian (probably contained chicken stock) but it sure didn't contain turkey.

I agree... and for a 1% question that wasn't very hard. Took about 5 seconds.

  20. I don't hate anyone Bruce (with maybe a few well deserved exceptions) - my point was simply that a school with money to burn can go for their little expeditions anywhere, it's not really reportable or newsworthy - except for dog-whistling Murdoch tabloids.
  21. I don't think there's an "r" in his surname. Bloody good actor.
  22. Robbie Williams? Same hairstyle anyway.
  23. Looks more like a full moon to me...
