  1. I used a similar one for the deck, but it also has a free-rotating collar that prevents you from sinking the countersink too deep.
  2. Maybe Ukraine should be targeting Putin's palace with a few drones. Even if they don't get the arsehole it would piss him off.
  3. Not that we can see them now, with the bi-annual deck oiling they're as brown as the wood.
  4. Screwdriver? What is this thing you speak of? If it doesn't have a bit that fits in my rattler, I'm not interested.
  5. Square all the way. Straight are just ridiculous. Whoever came up with that idea should be strapped to a chair and have his fingers gashed by straight screwdrivers, which is what happens when it slips. Phillips head #2 are slightly better but strip too easily. Hex are quite good, I use hex batten screws for anything that needs a serious big-arse screw. Square cavity (Robertson?) - I use those now in preference to anything else. My deck has thousands of them in stainless steel and was far easier to screw down than if they'd been phillips.

  8. They've got this stuff called electricity now. Much better than either kero or gas.
  9. But then you reduce down to a L when you're 50.
  10. In most cases, that's better than the alternative.

    Israel

Birds of a feather. There's not a single adult in that immediate family (including spouses) that I'd piss on if they were on fire.
  12. The sad part is that anecdotally, there are also "normally" reasonable people who will vote for him. See @Jerry_Atrick's post about his Oregon friend a few posts back. It's like the otherwise reasonable people who can look at a school shooting like Sandy Hook, be outraged and saddened that the tragedy happened, yet steadfastly say that any checks on the ability of individuals to buy semiautomatic rifles is a step too far. I think the US has some deep-seated problems and Trump is just the symptom - the turd that has floated to the top, so to speak.
  13. America needs an intervention. The countries of the world need to gently sit them down in Switzerland's living room, give them a cup of tea, and have a serious conversation about health care, gun control, religion, and the level of sanity required in it's CinC.
  14. Hmmm - and opportunistic thieves. Parked outside our accommodation in Ballarat last week, we had 5 bikes on the rack. The 4 best ones had a bike chain with combination lock threaded around them. Mine, the dodgiest, did not (the chain was too short for all 5). One night I couldn't be bothered taking them all off the rack and putting them behind the house. Next morning, there were only 4 bikes on the rack - my unchained one was gone. I'm just hoping that whoever nicked it, it was someone who really needed it - not just a drunk who couldn't be bothered walking home.
  15. That's not going to work. Give the cup a 90 degree twist when lifting and the lock will come out too.

  17. I just find it amusing that all this is based on Tickle and Giggle. Sounds like a fun case.
  18. Sun's always in the north for us. In winter it's lower on the horizon.
  19. Sounds like a solution in search of a problem to me. I work with geographically disbursed teams and it's no problem to remember that the Adelaideans are half an hour behind and the banana benders during daylight saving are 1 hour + 20 years behind...
  20. Actually if you read his stickers, I'd say he's on the progressive side. He probably annoys the far right.
  21. I wonder why the writers of the sitcom "Leave it to Beaver" thought that "Beaver Cleaver" would be a good name for the lead character.

    Quickies part 2

He's a chip off the old block.
  23. You can whip up a very realistic looking facsimile of any pistol you can think of on your 3D printer now. No problem with customs. Even make your own vodka bottles out of them if that's what you want.

I actually watched this episode. Got to the one with the arrows and lost it there. Never would have got the 1% question.
  25. I think the "alphabet sexuality" is more positive than not. My son (13) quite matter-of-factly told us that one of his mates is gay, another is pansexual and there's an intersex person in his class. This is said without judgement or prejudice. Imagine when you were at school. Would those "different" kids be as fairly treated by their peers?
