In 4 years time, hopefully the American people will get a clue after living in the wreckage of Trump's ego, and elect the Democrats. They will then have the unenviable task of rebuilding all these institutions which Musk has destroyed. The trouble is, all the knowledge, experience and expertise that the staff brought to them is now gone. I know idiots like Musk probably think of employees as replaceable pegs which are slotted into holes and can be moved around at will. But there is a world of difference between that office manager who knows everything about keeping the place running smoothly because she's done it for 30 years, and some 19yo fresh out of uni.

Trump is just a modern day snake oil salesman, and appeals to the same kind of people who fell for the snake oil sales pitch. All it needs is a little critical thinking and you can see that none of his "policies" will work. Nothing he does makes anything better, because he's just a wrecker. I hate to say it, but the last time a Western country lost its collective mind and elected a charismatic blowhard who blamed all of their problems on the "other" people who weren't the true, upright, decent people who BELONGED in their country... was 91 years ago, in Germany. (Interestingly, Google's AI "Gemini" seems to be blocked from political analysis...)

I'm not "suggesting" that you're an extreme right winger, I am stating as plain fact that - if you actually believe what you say - you are definitely somewhere to the right of Hitler. From your perspective everything is to the left of you, so when you look at centre-right or centre-left policy, you see far left / lefty / woke / pick your label. Far left is full communism/socialism. Unless you're talking about China, Vietnam, Cuba etc - there is no "far left" in Australia, certainly not in America, and not even in Russia.

Of course, silly me. I didn't realize that unpredictability and chaos are desirable qualities in a world leader.

I don't give a toss whether he's the world's richest man or not, and whether that wealth is tangible, intangible or he shits diamonds. The point is that he is an unelected and uncontrolled private citizen with access to virtually all US government data. He has massive conflicts of interest, zero oversight, and has proven to be untrustworthy in his market manipulation already. He's not a public servant and neither are his employees who he's sending into government offices. Despite having no "need to know" he and the other private citizens are accessing private and restricted data. To be honest I think Musk is actually more of a risk to democracy than Trump.
