I went Mainly to motor Bikes & have had about 100, total over a Life time. Cars rust too much and are harder to transport but I went right though Few Peugeot 203's years ago. 3 of them. I latched onto worked Ok But I wrote to Peugeot and asked them why they persisted with it and they changed to Hypoid in about 70 I think from memory all done in a nice alloy casing. Racing ones with Worm drive used Castor oil which didn't last long before It oxidised and went to Rubber. The copper in the bronze catalysed the Castor oil so not much good in a road car.. I mentioned all this stuff in my communication with France. I don't claim credit, but who knows? I thought they were a Good Company and I managed to Get parts Much cheaper than Repco so rebuilt a few Write Offs that ended up Fine. You need contacts in the trade to repair stuff Properly.
