  1. That's why people don't use caps where they are not supposed to be. Basic internet unwritten rules.
  2. A pair of rubber coated brickie's gloves is better. That and hand moisturiser.
  3. Nope, not a wheeled suitcase trolley. It's one of those small shopping trolleys with the canvas bag part removed. The type of little shopping trolley you see old ladies with. Thanks to Dr. Google.
  4. Maybe it's not an oxygen trolley. I just assumed that because I saw someone with an identical trolley with a bottle on it. The more I look at it, the more I think it might be off one of those small wheeled travel cases.
  5. The combined weight is super light. The trolley hardly weighs much more than the bucket. You can wheel it around or just lift up on the handle to walk around with it or go up stairs.
  6. I've got a handy item at home for doing small jobs. It's a small oxygen bottle trolley (the type people use to take their breathing oxygen around with them) with a 20 lt. Bunnings brand green bucket attached with an occy strap. The Bunnings bucket is a perfect fit on the trolley and deep enough so the tools and odds and ends being used don't fall out. The trolley is so light it doesn't need to be wheeled all the time. It can be raised off the ground by the handle and carried around if need be. It's great for keeping all the smaller stuff being used in the one place where it can be easily found. I found the O2 bottle trolley in a bin skip. I don't know if the hospitals reuse them or whether they are single use and then thrown away like they do with the aluminium crutches.
  7. and it's not necessarily an age related thing; I've been losing things I just put down for all of my lifespan so far. Once I even resorted to spray painting various items fluro pink so I could spot them. Problem was, I then had so much pink stuff, I had to run around them all to find the particular pink one I'd misplaced. I think I'm too old to grow out of the habit of casually putting something down without making a mental note of where it is.

    Nostalgia

Not very good resolution but I found this photo inline.
  9. It can be frustrating when things seem to disappear from the face of the earth. It often happens with screwdrivers and the main offender is usually the tape measure. Luckily tapes are made in bright colours so you can eventually track them down. I got around that problem by buying heaps of tapes. Everywhere I look is a tape measure; if I lose one I just move on to the next. Today's MIA was a metal stencil I was fooling around with on the verandah. I propped it on a ledge, turned around to walk away and heard the clunk of it falling on the verandah floor. When I looked for it on the floor it was gone. From where it was propped, it could only have fallen inside onto the verandah floor. Next thought was that being thin, it had slipped between the verandah floor board gaps and had fallen through onto the ground under the verandah. I went down there and looked around and it wasn't there. It was as if aliens had beamed it up. It had me beat for a while until I got a torch and looked between the floorboards and there it was perched on the bearer. The verandah joists are 6x2 ironbark giving a 6" gap between the top of bearer and bottom of floorboards. The stencil was just slightly wider than 6" so was held by the 1" thick floorboards but not wide enough to protrude from the top of the floorboards to be easily visible. Mystery solved. The stencil is one of those old COD stencils for sending banana cartons away on the train to Sydney.
  10. A problem the Democrats have is getting supporters to vote. When Biden was the nominee, polls showed the ratio of supporters intending to vote significantly favouring Trump. With Harris, that's improved but they've still got a way to go to get enough people to vote. Jam packed venues full of supporters is preaching to the converted, but they seem to be hoping the momentum will have a flow-on effect and encourage more to vote.
  11. It's going by the playbook.
  12. I don't know why I haven't noticed it before, but the narrow section in the middle of the Ukrainian Kursk incursion heading north towards Kromskie looks very much like a middle finger. Up yours, putler.

  15. The Kursk incursion has been a big political slap in the face for putler. It's the first time since WW2 that a foreign power has captured and held Russian territory, and to make it worse for the Kremlin dwarf, it's in Kursk. That region is embedded in the Russian narrative of military success after the battles with the Germans and the Soviet Union's eventual victory. Now, German and American military equipment is on Russian soil destroying Russians. Another red line crossed (one of many) and still no nuclear Armageddon. In seven days, Ukraine has captured more Russian ground than the Russians have taken from Ukraine in the last twelve months. Added to that, the cost to Russia of those small Russian gains was huge in manpower and equipment. putler and his mob are not good with strategy. So far their only strategy has been bluff. They squander their military to try to show the West they can sustain this forever, and they constantly talk of red lines so the timid West fears escalation and limits support. The problem is that the Russian resources are weakening and albeit slowly, the Western supporters are slowly getting it through their thick heads that putler has been jerking their chains. putler has been hoping his bluff strategy would bring about a cease fire and an agreement whereby Ukraine basically gives up and surrenders land to the little peanut. Now that the front line is on Russian territory, the option of freezing the conflict is not one putin could entertain. All the pro-Russian media and journalists calling for a freeze and negotiated settlement have suddenly gone silent now that the front line is in Russia and Russia would lose Russian land with a freezing of lines. The Kursk incursion has shown how vulnerable any lightly defended part of the border is. The Kursk region border had border posts manned by conscripts and was an easy task for the Ukrainians. For the Russians to heavily defend their entire (1991) border with Ukraine, they would have to weaken front line forces fighting in Ukraine. If the Ukrainians decide to stay and hold part of the Kursk region, it won't be easy for the Russians to dislodge them and would take a major operation to do it. If the Ukrainians retreat, it still leaves the orcs with the dilemma of trying to find the forces to prevent it happening again. The Ukrainians have had a lot of losses in Kursk but so far it's been a big win for them and nothing but loss for putler's crew.
  16. I was always under the impression that no matter the cause, the car doing the rear-ending was always at fault. It doesn't matter how or how fast the car in front stops, the rear driver is supposed to be far enough behind to safely stop in time.
  17. The buffoon head of Chechnya's TikTok warriors has received his Cybertruck and has invited Comrade Musk to come to Russia.
  18. Trump's usual toolkit is one of bullying, name calling and intimidation. He doesn't know what to do with Harris as his usual methods might not go down too well with female and coloured voters if he's seen to be personally attacking Harris all the time. The Harris camp has been ignoring his attacks, starving him of oxygen, and moving on to positive ground by talking about the future while most of Trump's drivel is about past personal grievances he has. At this point he doesn't know what to do. Republican advisors have been trying to get him to tone down personal attacks and concentrate on policy but Trump doesn't know how to do that. All he knows is to play the buffoon game show host to his adoring followers or be a totally nasty prick to those who don't adore him. It was funny when they gave him and Vance the weird tag. All they could come up with was "We're not weird, you're weird". Real schoolyard stuff.
  19. There's a tech company called Symeo that makes a lot of wireless radio sensor gear. They do a lot of collision avoidance stuff for mining sites and other industries.
  20. The Bear gets away with what they're doing because of that fear. Every one of putler's so called red lines carried veiled threats that included the N word. All those red lines have been crossed to a large degree with no response other than bombing a few hospitals and schools. The reality is if you poke the bear, it releases hot air.
  21. Kamala Harris is leading Trump by 17 points among female voters in the crucial must-win states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. No wonder he's looking a bit stressed lately.
  22. Who knows, it might be just some dude with not so good English writing skills. Personally I wouldn't put money on it, but that's just going by my experience of regularly seeing the same writing style and similar content across different social media platforms. It's not advertising spam as there's no links to webpages in the posts or mention of products. If it's a troll, he's achieved his goal of gaslighting a bunch of old farts on a forum and getting them talking about him. Often that style of post first up on a forum is a troll with a purpose. If he's genuine, he might come back and tell us something about himself, or he might not. This is my last comment on the subject as I highly suspect trolling and I try to stick to the basic rule #1 of the internet.
  23. Some of that stuff is not cheap. I went to the chemist to get a packet of probiotics and a packet of iron tablets, $140 when I got to the checkout. It's not so much when you relate it to a daily cost but just a bit of a surprise when you initially see the price after being used to subsidised medicines . Once the stomach gets out of whack it takes a a while to get it running smoothly again; endoscope #3 in two or three weeks time should shed some light on it.

    Paris Olympics

I didn't see any ID on the petition, although there might have been somewhere on the page. The petition has been removed. It was a cringeworthy performance that was lacking in dance skill content, but I think she was trying to break new ground. Die-hard breakdancers could be critical in that what she presented was not in the mould of breakdancing, but I think she was shaking the tree to see what apples would fall. My guess is that it was an attempt at pushing a bit of evolvement of the sport. She's had a mixed reception around the world. A laughing stock for some, but achieving almost a cult following among others. It certainly gave her some world wide recognition. She's not the weirdest or worst breakdancer around. Some of them are really out there.
