  7. Donald Trump has opened up about the real reason he doesn’t drink alcohol. The former US president and Republican presidential candidate revealed his older brother Freddy, who died at the age of 43 in 1981, was an alcoholic. Speaking to the National Faith Advisory Board at the Inaugural National Faith Summit in Powder Springs on Monday (28 October), Trump said: “I had a brother who was a great guy, but he had an alcohol problem. “It’s a hard problem to cure and I’ve never had a glass because of him.” Trump added: “I think I have the type of personality where I probably would have a problem.”
  8. Today I had my annual cardiac checkup, which started with an electrocardiogram, then the review with the cardiologist. The checkup was all clear. He said I could stop taking one of the tablets I have been on for over 10 years, and said he would see me in 12 months. I proceeded to reception where they arranged my future appointments, then proceeded to organise payment. I tapped my eftpos card and headed home. Unfortunately, I did not get a receipt. I went to update my expenses spreadsheet, expecting a $130 debit, with Medicare refund to be received within 24 hours. When I checked my statement, I saw that I had been debited $1300. My daughter rang the consulting rooms to question the amount. They apologised profusely and said they would refund the full amount and bulk bill the consultation. The receptionist had accidentally keyed an extra zero on the eftpos machine.
