A dad joke from Facebook: I taught the kids about democracy last night. I had them vote on what movie to watch, and what pizza to order. Then I chose the movie and the pizza. I'm the one who had the money.

A couple were involved in a car accident and the car caught fire. The husband was badly burned and his face disfigured. The plastic surgeon could not find any suitable skin on him for a skin graft. His wife asked if she could donate some skin and a test confirmed it was compatible. The most suitable skin was from her buttocks because it was soft and smooth, and any scarring would be covered. After the operation, he met his friends and colleages to reveal his new face. Everyone was complemenary and commented how good his new skin looked. He thanked his wife and asked how he could repay her. She aid "You don't owe me anything. Just watching your mother kiss your cheek is payment enough."

A pub wth pokies would be a good location for that. Recharge while you have a drink and play the machines for a while.

Celebrating Positives (offset of the Gripes Thread)

Yes, my rates are paid in monthly instalments by direct debit. Fixed amount on the last day of the month. Fits in with pension days. I pay my rego 3-monthly. This might not be for everyone, but works for me. With this method, I've got to the position where with two more payments, my credit cards will both be paid off, and I will be totally debt free. -
What to do with White Supremacists (and other fanatical type groups)?

Pardon me pinching your thread, but this reminds me of the cartoon about the guy who goes into a redneck hotel, The bartender says "you're not from around these parts are you? What do you do?" The guy replies "I'm a taxidermist." The bartender says "What does a taxidermist do?" The guy says "I mount animals." The bartender calls out the the patrons, "It's OK folks, he's one of us." -

I've mentioned before how I budget for bills by making invremental payments each pension day of amounts I have from the previos pension. so I don't get bill shock. Here is an example of why I do this - I like bills like this. I do this for Gas, Electricity and Water. Because I have a smart meter for my electricity, my online account gives me a constant record of how I am going. When I get ahead like this, I can go a pension or two without making a payment. Unfortunately, gas and water don't have this progressive status. -
Council elections coming up, voting papers etc in the mail. This guy is a certainty to get a few votes.

A former top general in Donald Trumpβs administration βwarned former colleaguesβ about the Republican presidential nomineeβs temperament and called him a βtotal fascist.β Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley was quoted in Bob Woodwardβs upcoming book, War, as saying Trump is βthe most dangerous person everβ who could not control his authoritarian tendencies while in the White House. βI had suspicions when I talked to you about his mental decline and so forth, but now I realize heβs a total fascist,β Milley told Woodward, reported The Guardian. βHe is now the most dangerous person to this country.β Milley told Woodward that Trump is a βwalking, talking advertisement of what heβs going to try to do,β recalling a 2020 Oval Office meeting in which Trump βyelledβ and βshoutedβ about wanting to court marshall former generals who criticized him in the press. Milley was apparently able to cool Trump down, but he fears others wonβt be so lucky if Trump clinches a second White House term. Upon his retirement, Milley said he has received βa non-stop barrage of death threatsβ since his retirement last year and fears he could become a target again. βNo one has ever been as dangerous to this country,β said Milley. Milley similarly warned of Trumpβs lack of restraint in a 2023 interview with The Atlantic, adding that Trump βwill start throwing people in jailβ if left unchecked. The magazine just endorsed Kamala Harris for president. Still Milley said he has βa lot of confidence in the general officer corpsβ and βconfidence in the American people.β He told The Atlantic, βThe United States of America is an extraordinarily resilient country, agile and flexible, and the inherent goodness of the American people is there. Iβve always believed that, and I will go to my grave believing that.β

Australia's largest windfarm is officially switched on to start powering almost a million homes A wind farm projected to be the largest in the southern hemisphere has officially started creating electricity. On Friday, the first stage of the Golden Plains Wind Farm β 100km west of Melbourne - began feeding into the grid after weeks of testing the electricity generation and issues with little parts of the stagnant turbines being blown off in strong winds. Is there no limit to the stupidity or hypocracy of this man? He has been protesting for so long about how Chima is stealing jobs from America and how he is going to slap a 100% tarrif on goods imported from China. Guess where his "God bless America" bibles are printed. Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. Their import documents show their value as just under $3 per copy, but Mr MAGA is selling them for $59.99 per copy, $1000 per copy if signed.

No rain in Melbourne today, but the temperature only made it to 16.7 after a low of 7.9. We should get 25 on Sunday, and again on Tuesday and Wednesday before diving back into the high teens.

Australia's next BIG thing... Australia's newest 'big thing' was unveiled over the weekend, the brand-new 'Big Tractor' rolling into the Midwest WA town of Carnamah. ππ¨βπΎπΎ The 11.5-metre piece of farming equipment marks a new entry into Australia's unofficial list of iconically-large objects - the roadside tourist statues that put our regional towns on the map!

re Tuesday's question. The logic of this question is difficult, and I don't know how the writers came up with it. The dates depend on the position of the word in the question. The "6th" is the sixth word and the "15th" is the 15th word. The "*" is the 24th word, so Amir's birthday is the 24th of January. How one is expected to work that out in 30 seconds is beyond me. Must be getting too old. I'm not sure the delay in getting a response is because the question is too difficult, or people are losing interest. Simple ones get answered quickly, but the harder ones are taking some time. Are you enjoying the questions and wish me to continue, or should I let it go? I have about 30 questions stored, and some of them are doozies. Here's the next one of the current lot.

Just read this on the internet: First noticed by MacRumours, the products added to the list made obsolete are its last ever iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle models. Essentially it means if the product stops working Apple is not obliged to fix it β rendering it barely more than a relic from the past. Apple will no longer issue IOS updates for this model. Apple has also added the iPhone 6 standard model to the list, having already made the larger iPhone 6 Plus obsolete back in April. My daughter and I both have iPhone 6's. They wont stop working, but if something goes wrong we will have to find an independent phone repair centre who will fix it. iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X, IPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 have all been discontinued in recent years. According to Apple, it considers its products obsolete when it stopped distributing them for sale more than seven years ago.
