which is what I said before.... don't like the guy, think he is an self serving snake and would not surprise me if a future corruption enquiry finds he was up to his neck in it. but even with all that. I agree he was still the best option by far. couldn't bring myself to vote for him though - always went independent.

true, but then how much time doe it save?

They arent that far off the factory wheels

lets not forget the belt and roads program. the contracts were signed in that caretaker period sure. but the groundwork was done well before then. I have been going through compulsory acquisition on my current property - it has taken 12 months with the legal aspect of it. they had already acquired the property's through Hoddle St. the planning had been well underway The survey drilling was started in may 2012 - the stage 1 funding commitment was announced in may 2013 - at this time it was announced the contract would be signed in September, to break ground in October, before the November election Project was all approved with some modifications on 30 June. from Wikipedia: A week before the November election Andrews said an "East West Link-type connection" could still be built under a Labor government if it was recommended by Infrastructure Victoria, an independent advisory board Labor planned to set up if it won government.[64] The day after Labor's win in the state election, Andrews confirmed that the East West Link would be abandoned[65] in favour of its $300 million alternative, the West Gate Distributor. However, the government left open the option of proceeding with the western section of the original road plan also from Wikipedia his comments from September 2014: Andrews said Labor had gained legal advice that if the court declared invalid the Planning Minister's decision to approve the project, "any contracts entered into will be beyond power and unenforceable" His basis for this is that the councils had an dispute going through the courts over the planning approval. But it was all done above board - which is why it cost them $339 million to cancel.

the argument and difference of opinion is part of what makes its more fun and interesting on this side. the most active thread in the last few day (and the only one I can remember) is the pee thread. what's that say about us?

On the original rec aviation site. before you click off-topic to be re-directed to this linked, but separate forum. - you know the one that was specifically created to keep it off the flying site maybe look at this forums topic listing this site is probably more active because we cant fly at the moment with financial constraints caused by government and corporations. maybe you should make a thread on the aviation side asking why?

plus there were several rail disasters, where people were getting cooked from the steam. diesel was seen as the safe alternative. took a while for the diesel trains to have the same power. interesting that GM was halting the rail.... considering they were building the engines and carriages
-
check your web address, this is social Australia nor recreational flying. - same same, but different some of us like to sit around talking about it like we would at a BBQ.
-
at some point there is always competing technology where one takes over. it happened with steam too

As a millennial.... Abbot may have actually helped the liberal part if he continued with those comments. would have helped the housing market. but yeah I was living in Melbourne, through Andrews rein. still remember the east west link being torn up - pretty sure everyone at that stage had accepted and wanted to just build the thing, especially anyone who uses the bridge. - wasn't just contracts signed, property had been acquired. whole lot further along then his bullshit said it was. Also remember him saying he would build it - till about a week or two out of the election. talked to people who voted for him and couldn't believe he did it - just assumed no-one was that petty also remember the issues with the Paramedics and Firefighter's pay. The lockdowns and the ring of steel (worked in my favor, but still). He always came across to me as a man who put more importance on image and being important. general opinion I encountered was that he would have been on his ass long ago - if the liberals could actually put up a somewhat decent opposition leader. may as well have been running un-opposed the last few elections

more likely the microscope has started to come out with the commonwealth games enquiry, and the fact the state is in large debt - quitting before the tax raise discussions are about to get serious. the bus is in sight, and he'd rather not be leading when it hits
-
So what was about to come out? dont see him doing this except to avoid worse scandal

Ah inflation and prices aren't as closely linked. after-all I doubt we will ever see prices dropped at the supermarket - even if inflation was to price is what someone is willing to pay

See the ex-PM's I have no issue with that, not like they are able to go back into the regular workforce. so if they did it would be straight to political lobbying for some major corporation - rather pay them to go do handshake opportunities and make speeches at community events. plus they expand the influence with diplomacy. used correctly with the staff to respond and manage requests its would be a great set-up for everyone.

Yeah, we would often fit parts that were not approved. we would normally tell them about aftermarket parts effecting warranty as part of the order. was one of the ways we sold more genuine then aftermarket gear (fit and finish was the main reason). we fitted illegal parts too (tail tidy's with the indicators too close, "race only" exhaust systems) if the customer wanted it, we would source and fit it. but only thing we warranted was the work we provided - everything else was on the parts manufacturer. happened at every dealer I worked at. now the key. and what isnt talked about is the dealer relationship with the manufacturer. we got so many questionable claims through under good will. If we could prove that the customer had only been servicing at our dealership it was a golden ticket with warranty approval. We only ever saw the bike for warranty work after the 1st service - yeah, your not getting any favors done. also warranty pays crap - its done at an approved rate for an approved flat time. basically break even so its not something dealerships want to schedule, much rather do customer paid work - this is why you often hear "take it to the dealer you purchased it from"

I dont have one, was going to put one on the Amarok - but Volkswagen are notorious about warranty being denied with them fitted. think the ARB is the only bar they approve. - but even then its questionable on suspension components, so unless dealer fitted..... anyway now its out of warranty I cant justify the cost. 4K on a 40k car is a lot easier to stomach, then 4k on a 20k car. plus I drove my bosses - and it was horrible with that extra weight, really messed up the balance. could really feel the difference when changing direction. not the best for a car that lives in the city already had the front end replaced when I rear-ended a car in front. think the old man had his front replaced after hitting a roo, both all sorted under insurance - easy as these days. I see the value in farm use and serious off-roading. but worse I do is a fire track.

I dont see how it provides a whole lot of extra space compared to just using the original camper

Electric Cars - the discussion continues.

there is a reason that industry went away from large single castings. we have a large rejection rate for our hydraulic valves, at one point it was 50% and its hard to find the faults. can be quite porous, and prone to cracking. as Tesla is finding our in their existing castings. tend to crack when subject to stresses of vibration. most of the motorcycle manufacturers have gone away from cast components. and are now manufacturing them from Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Allows for a lighter and stronger peice by engineering in the rigidity and strength as needed -

hang on, the overweight argument isn't so simple. my colleague bas a cupra born as a courtesy car today. we were looking at specs, comparing it to my MG midget for a laugh with the power figures. but the surprising thing was the weight, while he describes this small hatchback as feeling like a dodgem car to drive. its actually heavier then my dual cab ute, at over 1900kg. around 500kg heavier then the conventional offerings imagine what a large electric car would weigh. cant help but wonder how the roads will hold up to the higher weight and torque of these when they are widespread -
And then what? doesn't stop him from doing it again. could take a pound of flesh and wont make a difference to the decision making and mental process you want to correct behavior, its a full time process over years with qualified medical professional's - and even then no garantee. But put evil people in prison and no-one blinks. but kids under 24/7 supervision in an medical facility - especially if sedated/medicated and everyone loses their mind.
-
where do you put him? obviously isnt going to be a functioning member of society. and jail is just going to be an education on furthering a criminal element. if only there was some kind of place for people who are screwed up mentally, you know with a name that means place of safety. too bad we shut them all years ago the 15yr old that did the stabbing got 15 years.

the small manufacturers were always going to be pushed out once true production kicked in. lets not forget the original Tesla business model was to use the cars to prove a business case. then sell the batteries and motor technology to existing manufacturers.... let them build the actual vehicles only the existing manufacturers wanted to develop the technology themselves and not pay for the tesla. so they had adapt and try to build an actual mass production car Elon has stated that the car industry has been the most difficult. As everyone already made a good car - and they are still figuring that part out. -

my old mans amarok has cost him 10k in the last two services (done approx 200k from memory). he had to go the big powerful V6.... my older 2 liter turbo amarok is about to have its second major service. and has just had the first mechanical failure with blown turbo seals (@170ks, will get repaired at the 180k service when everything is out of the way doing belts) -

luckily for us we have a vast ocean between us. And more importantly America to spruke how great they are. in my experience most people wanting to move - had their eyes set on the USA because that's what they saw on all the media. the more learned of us know Canada is the better option
