Don’t be surprised if lots of young teachers can’t either. Even though I’m an old bugger who learned to write with ink pens, I have trouble reading my mum’s WWII diaries.

A referendum is require because it’s inserting an amendment into our Constitution to recognise our country’s original inhabitants and provide for them to have the ear of government (Coca Cola and lots of foreign corporations have much more influence than the Voice is ever likely to). NZ did this long ago, but went much further, setting aside special seats in Parliament for Indig. Did that caused the NZ sky to fall? Like everything in the Constitution, the wording is brief and concise. Read it and you’ll see.

After all this time, nobody has raised a convincing arguement against this incredibly overdue update to our Constitution. Where are people getting their information? Much of our media is owned by foreigners with a track record of misleading the public.

The same approach could easily be employed against our multi-billion dollar subs.

That’s the sort of exposure to hackers that I want to reduce; even if I use a “secure” network, eventually the parasites are likely to find a way to “eavesdrop”.

I’d like to see someone develop a safer way for us mere mortals to regularly check our bank accounts, in case some low-life has been stealing our money. Currently, the only way to do so is log in, exposing all our security info. That makes us vulnerable to hackers. There’s a big security difference between looking at our money and getting our hands on it.

That analogy is long out of date. The US is mainly concerned with protecting its investments, not fostering world peace.

Robodebt Royal Commission - Exposing a Travesty
Old Koreelah replied to Jerry_Atrick's topic in Politics
…and that same gang is currently having great success undermining efforts to recognise our indigenous people- over a century after NZ went much further and reserved seats in Parliament for their indig. Australia, the land of could-a-been. -
Watch the Mig (or was it a Sukhoi) doing that impressive plonk-down landing. The video artist put in some vague shadows as it skimmed the sea surface, but not a ripple from the massive blast of its jet exhausts.

Sorry about that; my iPad has developed a stutter.

Hard to see Russia ever giving up its claim to Crimea, even if they’re pushed out. Perhaps a final solution should be some sort of Autonomous Region that recognised the ancient claims of the Tatars. The USSR included lots of subdivisions that supposedly gave some local control to many of its ethnic minorities.

Inflation was once deemed a curse on the economy. Now governments want inflation; that seems like the only way they can keep debt under control.

Me too Red, but don’t be surprised when the rules are changed to push us old farts out of our big old houses. Baby Boomers who own their home are comfortable and protected by tax rules, while many young are struggling to get a start. I predict a move to scale back age discounts and subsidies. One day, a brave government will scrap negative gearing and protections of the family home.

I crossed that same old bridge on Wednesday in a truck loaded with classic motorcycles.

I find the idea attractive, especially when I remember how it feels to have the front tyre let go. I’d like to see front end up close; it looks like impressive engineering.

I protest! My grandad managed State Forests sustainably; they would still be yielding logs and supporting a thriving timber industry if Bob Carr and others had not turned them into National Parks.

Electric Cars - the discussion continues.
Old Koreelah replied to Phil Perry's topic in Science and Technology
The potential for electric vehicles is exciting; I’m currently designing a ride-on mower for my steep, rocky block and these sort of in-hub electric wheels are attractive: -
Bugger! We might have to cut back on all those party balloons.

…which means they are adding their mass to our planet. Will this slow us down or cause us to be drawn closer to our star?

That’s been a theme of my life, Nev. Not complaining too hard though; who’d want to be rich or famous?
