Can you see what's wrong with our electoral system? One Nation and independents got well over 1/4 of the primary vote, perhaps a 1/3, and because there was no seats won except for one independent, all those votes end up with zero value. The only votes that have value are the ones that help to win seats. The votes that don't win seats just remain as bits of paper filled out by voters who get ignored for the next four years. This is one of the reasons I stopped voting. Some votes have significant value, while other votes have no value at all. For a system that has mandatory voting, all votes should have value, and proportionate representation in the running of the State, or Nation So the jurassic idea of "winning seats" needs to be changed to: "A party is to get as many votes as it can, and then, a party's voters will get a real say in Parliament". In other words, abolish "seats", and have proportionate representation in Parliament instead. That will mean every vote will have value every election. No voter will be left behind.

Our two party system is a con because it has two perpetual parties, the ALP and the Coalition. They've become so predictable, they're boring as all hell. I don't think they even know who or what they are anymore.

I've explained it before. The nearest polling booth and PO mailing box are 37km from my place. I won't travel that distance without being compensated for fuel, wear and tear, and lunch money. 74km total on rough bush roads dodging roos, wombats, and potholes. No thanks ... But for One Nation I might, because they have Traditional Aussies needs high on their list of considerations.

I haven't voted for the last four Fed elections, just paid the fines, because the major parties are more internationalist than Australian these days, I can't stomach them. But if a One Nation candidate is contesting in my electorate, I'll consider voting again, give them the top spot and place the major parties last and second last. Other than that, I'll just keep paying the fine.

It should be obvious. Integrate into the Aussie culture and Aussie values ... and be at least 3rd generation.

Abbott was a Pommie loyalist. I don't think any true Traditional Aussie took any notice of him. If you're not Aussie, you won't get anywhere.

The Constitution and the major parties are in question now because of their excessive international stance on everything. Australia has become a poor second. Islam seems to be an important priority for some strange reason. Traditional Aussie bushies view it as laughable, but serious, and we're coming closer together.

So we could see One Nation in opposition then? It'd be a welcome change.

Since the major parties always win government, and have done since 1901, why not just let them alternate every three years. Imagine the money we'd save by not having elections, and all the political fighting would disappear, relieving all the stress of wondering if they'll win government. Each of the majors only need to wait three years and they'd be back in again. Good idea? What do you think of it?
