red750 Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 My first was a Morris Isis (not the Muslim kind), then a Morris Major Elite, then a Morris Oxford. After that it was all Fords (5 Falcons and a Festiva). All but one have been pre-owned.
spacesailor Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I bought a Holden, sheet !. Did you know the five stud wheels are attached by four bolts . Weee there goes my left front wheel, over the fence & across the field. Only a little scar in the tarmac. Never found that Dammed wheel with the brake rotor inside it. noticed the shake three days before & no mechanic (3 of them) picked up the problem. spacesalor
Yenn Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 My first car was a Morris Eight series 2 ex post office van. Second a Riley Kestrel. Wish I still had the Riley.
old man emu Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 My first new from the dealer car was a 1975 Honda Civic It was a great little car which I drove all over northwest NSW. https://www.motorious.com/articles/features/344541/driven-is-the-honda-civic-genesis-of-modern-reliability The intake and combustion chamber design were revolutionary;
onetrack Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Red, you should've kept that Morris Isis. Absolute tank of a car, powered by a Morris truck engine. About the only Morris that would do close to 100mph. Only 1250 built, it's a collector car today. Best vehicle I ever owned, a new HJ Holden Sandman utility, bought in 1975. 253 cu in V8 (4.2L), 4 speed manual, GTS dash, went like the clappers. Wore it right out, eventually turned into a roo-shooting ute on the farm, and sent it to a country rubbish tip. Worth probably $60,000-$70,000 today, in good condition, the Sandman utes are rarer than hens teeth, only 800 built. The Sandman I owned was identical to this one, below. https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/buyers-guide/1901/1975-holden-hj-sandman-ute-buyers-guide
facthunter Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 The Morris ISIS has a truck engine in it alright and it's a fairly good thing compared to a lot of other stuff that was about. . Nev
