LJS Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Flying dog That just means that they don't get your hard earned - tongue in cheek, They Starve!
flying dog Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Ah, ok. I shall have to look into it a bit more. So reading it, I download a bit of their software and run that.... and so on. It is kind of good that there is a "Free" option as I really hope this is the only time I need to do this. It is semi against my beliefs. But, situations and circumstances dictate that things have to be done.
Nev25 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Indulge me:How does that work? This is my first time in this situation. Debt collection agents employ people know in the trade as Skip Chasers they are sort of P.Is just specialise in finding people But at the end of the day (from my experience as an Electrical Contractor) if people don't wont to be found they usually know there way around the privacy act And know how to hide behind it
flying dog Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I hope it isn't that they "don't want to be found" but more: I am done with this one and moving on to....... So a bit of research will/probably/may find said person. I guess I am at the point where I need to work out the value/cost of finding them. Which only I can determine.
LJS Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Flying Dog You will not be doing anything illegal, all you are doing is using an aggregation tool that will pool a subset of the publicly available information (some or most of it lying in the dusty corners of the interwebs, where old data ends up) on the target. Gathering the information is not illegal Using the tool is not illegal or even immoral for that matter You are potentially going to use the tool to track someone that has in essence stolen - well misapproriated - something that belongs to you and are trying to track them down to regain possession of said property. Sometimes the effort involved in our endeavours far exceeds the value of the object or desired outcome, this usually falls into the 'It's a matter of principle' category!
Downunder Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 In my selling endevours on ebay, I've come across all sorts of people. Most honest good and greatful. With the others, I get them out of my life and thoughts as soon as possible. I deal with their issues, ban them from buying from me again and move on. Dwelling on others decietful and dishonest practices to the point of looking for revenge in not healthy. If they are getting you down and losing sleep, they are winning. You don't want to back down due to financial loss or the principal but sometimes you need to step back and take a long look at the situation and how it is affecting you.
flying dog Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 I'm not dwelling on the person or the event - as such. I too have moved on WRT them, but would like my things back. I am in the process of working out the mechanics of getting to grips with what happened. To wit, I shall hope to use these events as experience, and use them to help me avoid such things happening to me again.
Gnarly Gnu Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Arrange for him to win some (minor but not not useless) item and have a friend contact to advise and arrange delivery. Or similar theme.... would he like a barbecue? A tool of some type? & have him volunteer an address. You could do it in conjunction with a friendly local business to make it more legit. Then deliver an old s/h item as the prize, don't want to be dishonest like him see?

You put up a good effort, and have out sympathy; sometimes dogs crap on your lawn, and it's better just to move on.
