onetrack Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Just cough, and you'll have all the space around you, that you need. 2
red750 Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Many places now requiring tap and go. Cash or keypads can spread the germs. Too bad if you don't have tap and go on your phone. 1
old man emu Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 It will be interesting to see how low fuel prices go, and for how long. How about yesterday? Fuel in southwest Sydney went up to $1.51 on Friday.
facthunter Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Just the usual bit of "gouging" we should be used to by now. Nev
willedoo Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 It hard to understand them sometimes. We have fuel outlets on opposite sides of the street with a 10 cent price difference. It's a no-brainer which one you fuel up at.

red750 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 According to the news tonight, around Melbourne it varies from 99c (yes, under a dollar), to $1.59.9. Someone's getting ripped off.
old man emu Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I got 91 octane at 99 cents at Kemps Creek (beside Badgerys Creek) tonight. Was told that will be the price until a fresh load arrives.Down the road it is $1.48
Mike Gearon Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Looks like I should have brought toilet paper. Taiwan having a run starting with the toilet paper and into instant noodles now. Taiwan prime minister is just saying go for it. Buy as much as you like, it’s good for the economy. Strange days indeed. 1
willedoo Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 There's a report in today's news that independent pornstars are enjoying a rise in income due to bigger demand now that people are stuck at home with nothing to do. The performers are stuck at home as well, so they're producing more webcam content and cashing in.

willedoo Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 The big challenge with all this home time will be to stay motivated enough to keep physically active. I'm in that group of people that have arthritic joints seize up very quickly without a work load. Part of my weekly exercise came through volunteering 2 or 3 days a week, but now that's shut down and the only exercise is what I initiate myself. I'm sure there would be a lot of people in the same boat. I'm fortunate enough to live on a large block with years of work to do, but it would be a challenge for people on a small city block with limited things to physically do around the place. 1
onetrack Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 And for that exact reason, there has been an exercise equipment boom in the last week. Old unused exercise equipment that has been littering back rooms is now worth good money - whereas before, you couldn't give it away. The missus had a "leg magic" exercise device that was virtually good for bugger all - so it went into the garage a couple of years ago. Yesterday she dragged it out, and sold it on Gumtree within 2 hrs. Funnily enough the buyer was an Asian lady - and we speculated whether she was buying it to resell at a profit. Can't beat the Chinese for eyeing an opportunity to make a quick quid, via trading. Stepdaughter bought a huge exerciser that occupied the back porch unused for years, and started going rusty. She sold it to a buyer who even dismantled it, and carted it away, like he'd found a long-lost Renaissance painting.
willedoo Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks for that tip, onetrack. I have a large vibration type exercise machine doing nothing. In two years I might have used it about six times, so it's in as new condition. Cost around $2,000 originally, and the reason I haven't got around to selling it is because I thought it would be hard to sell or get a reasonable price for it.
Mike Gearon Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Made a meager living selling exercise equipment for 35 years. Finally I’m in the right industry! Update today on the toilet paper crisis. It’s arrived in Taiwan. I buy all the pink jelly balls so it’s no surprise they are always gone. Didn’t expect the toilet paper thing here.

pmccarthy Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Petrol less than $1 per litre - all travel banned.
onetrack Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 It's 96.9c a litre for ULP here in Perth tomorrow. Travel isn't banned completely here, just "non-essential" travel. I've got plenty of ULP on hand in jerrycans, anyway.
Marty_d Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Here's something else there's been a run on - chooks! One of our hens fell off the perch the other day (old age) so I went up the road and bought 3 point of lay pullets. The guy selling them said he was getting people ordering 50 or 100 at a time, turning up with trailers etc. There was a paddock with at least 500 birds in it and he said he may run out in the next couple of weeks. Guess people think that eggs are going to become scarce. Not sure where they think they're going to get chook food if it becomes that apocalyptic.
spacesailor Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 91 octane has ethanol I believe. Is going away for a couple of days, just to stop going stir crazy, OK. It's essential. LoL spacesailor
willedoo Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Here's something else there's been a run on - chooks! I was listening to the gardening lady on ABC radio today. She said there seems to be a run on vegetable seedlings. At one place, shoppers normally buy a couple of punnets, but lots of customers are now walking out with 20 or more.
