Thanks, NP.. I am not too worried for myself..  One of my team members ended up losing sense of smell for a couple of days.. the other was a more tired - both double jabbed and otherwise just like having a bad cold, so it is doing its job. But if it is Delta, concerned for the 15 year old daughter who is not vaccinated yet.

I was reading up on the Spanish 'flu epidemic of 1918. What struck me was the attitude of the leaders of day so closely resembled what we have seen over the last 18 mths of COVID-19.

 

1. Many leaders downplayed the Spanish 'flu as "just a little 'flu".

2. Many leaders failed to act promptly, and with firm measures, to limit the spread of the virus. "Too little, too late" in the decision-making, cost a lot of lives.

3. There was a general lack of awareness of how rapidly and easily the Spanish 'flu spread. 

4. No medicines were available to counter the Spanish 'flu attack. Medical measures and advice were often wrong. Aspirin in large doses was a recommended treatment - up to 30mg a day. Over 4mg of aspirin a day is toxic to the human body. Many people died as a result of aspirin overdose, rather than as direct result of the Spanish 'flu.

5. America's death toll from the Spanish 'flu was 675,000. The death toll in America is currently sitting on 718,000 people. As regards deaths as a percentage of the prevailing population, the Spanish 'flu was more deadly than COVID-19.

Well, so far (touch wood, or my head), I have dodged the COVID bullet.. My manager contracted it a couple of weeks ago, and, although double jabbed, has knocked her around a bit and is not expected back at work for a couple of weeks yet.

This is an interesting article, of course it comes from the daily mail, but find a lot of their articles to be closer to the truth than most main stream deceptive rags. Not forgetting they sensationalise things a bit to much.

See my response on the other thread.. The vaxxed should (generally) have no fear of the unvaxxed - It's the vaxxed likely to suffer the long term and fatal problems associated with Covid - not the vaxxed - they should enjoy that false sense of security..

Better make it quick, bit hard to "get" anyone when you're on a ventilator in ICU.

I'm immune compromised, from my understanding, it depends on the vaccine type. When I had my first astra zenica jab a week or more ago, they made me stay in the clinic for half an hour, contacted me a some hours later and the next morning to check I hadn't had an adverse reaction. At the time was feeling awful, but they explained the type of reactions I may get and they were right, took me a few days to get back to normal and the first couple of day had no energy at all. Now I feel fine and the clinic rang me this morning to see how I was and if I wanted to come in for an assessment, which I didn't.

 

They told me they wouldn't give me the pfizer jab as immune compromised people seem to react badly to it, will see how I go with the next jab in December.

Just had a quick covid test, this morning.

Quick to get there, quick swab , then back home and WAIT ( for it  ) 24 or 48 hours for results.

I had my third CV test (required for hospital admittance) at about 3.30 pm Monday last week, and had my result by 11.30 am Tuesday. Testing centre drive-thru at a Pathology Centre just down the road in Vermont South.

That test was to get a doctor appointment.

By the time the test comes back, it will be the weekend & the doctor won't be available for another four days.

just hope the missus hasn't got the flu.

That does really destroy your immune system, had a taste of that back in the 1970's, reckon if had gone through the entire treatment, wouldn't be here today, it was horrific and probably why my system is struggling now.

I didn,t add up, the fuel used !.

But if sick get a swab test, and if still sick !, get another  & another,  add infinitum. 

No doctor untill your well..
