red750 Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) Here's something you may not have seen. It's a mural on a wall of the carpark at Glenny Kebabs on the corner of Canterbury and Springvale Roads in Forest Hill Vic. Just down the road from my place. An odd assortment of characters. Yenn Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Looks like the sort of people the media have on TV to discuss current affairs. 2

onetrack Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) The blokes painting the silos have my respect. How difficult must it be, to try and paint something in correct perspective, on a massive surface, that is most often curved - and do a lot of it, at great height, out in the elements? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-16/benalla-artist-paints-six-silos-during-covid-19-restrictions/12252068 https://www.weekendnotes.com/im/001/00/coonalpyn-silos1.jpg https://www.exploroz.com/places/126652/vic+silo-art Edited May 25, 2020 by Guest 1
DemonGoose Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 (edited) Hi, last week (June 2021) I drove past and I saw a new addition to the mural at 'Glenny Kebabs on the corner of Canterbury and Springvale Roads in Forest Hill Vic.' The artist had added Muhammad Ali. On one knuckle of Ali's hands he had a drawn in a butterfly and the other hand he had a bee, so I'm presuming it was the world famous boxer. It sure looked like Ali too. However as I drove past yesterday (barely a week later), Ali had gone. Someone had used white paint to cover over the art work. I was a bit disappointed in that because it was a good bit of work. Any ideas of what happened there? Edited June 19, 2021 by DemonGoose
spacesailor Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 It was ' Cassius marcellus Clay jr ' the Olympic boxing champion. He never Officially changed his name. spacesailor
facthunter Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 What happened was some Barbarian painted it over. Nev 1
red750 Posted July 8, 2021 Author Posted July 8, 2021 Drove past at dusk tonight and the artist was putting the finishing touches to the bee in a repainting of the image. I drive past it on my way to the men's shed, so I will get a photo tomorrow and paste it.
red750 Posted July 9, 2021 Author Posted July 9, 2021 OK. Here are the photos I took this morning. I must say, the image doesn't look particularly like Ali, unless it is at a very early age. A couple of days ago there was a photo of a similar type of mural to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the death of musician Kurt Cobain. The image painted was that of David Spade.
willedoo Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 It doesn't look anything like Ali. And that hat he's wearing looks like the one former PLO leader Yessir Ihaveafat used to wear. 1
onetrack Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 The artist has got Muhammad Ali's facial proportions all wrong. His facial structure is too short for the width, and his chin is too small and rounded. Despite saying that, I don't think I could do any better.
spacesailor Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 (edited) Gee !. That looks like Cassius Clay. ( that won against the Australian boxer ) now who was that Aussie who lost, at the Olympics? . spacesailor Edited July 9, 2021 by spacesailor More added
facthunter Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Lionel Rose? I haven't looked it up so don't put money on it. I'm not a great fan of boxing either. Nev

spacesailor Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Gee !. No, the American won the gold, the Aussie silver spacesailor
Marty_d Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 According to the internet thingy, the only Australian olympic silver in boxing went to Grahame Cheney in 1988.
