pmccarthy Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 This may help someone else... My mouse started playing up, intermittently failing to respond. I had changed the batteries but did so again and it didn't help. My wife mentioned that she was having the same problem. My mouse is an old Logitech, hers is Apple. It was too much of a coincidence. I found that the AA batteries were about 1 mm shorter than standard and were not pushing against the spring terminals hard enough. A wad of alfoil against the terminals solved both problems. 1
old man emu Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Good thing it wasn't his horse that started playing up, intermittently failing to respond. Jockey clubs don't like you fixing problems with horses by using batteries.
ClintonB Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Saving 1mm in material over 100000 of batteries saves a lot of money, like smaller chips and chocolates
pmccarthy Posted August 13, 2020 Author Posted August 13, 2020 My god, would they skimp on chocolates?
Jerry_Atrick Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 After the Brexit vote, sterling took a pounding (pardon the pun) but finally settled about 20% - 30% lower against the USD and Euro.. Toblerone did in fact skimp on the chocolate as a result... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37904703
onetrack Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 I've had the opposite problem. Bought rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries and had trouble getting them to fit, as they're slightly larger than regular AA batteries.
spacesailor Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 My old calculator uses the shortest AA batteries, They are N type. Try getting those from a supermarket. spacesailor
