red750 Posted Tuesday at 08:11 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:11 AM Very good Spacey. She was the first female to get a pilot's licence in the USA, and the first woman to fly across the English Channel. That got no publicity, because she did it the day after the Titanic sank, which monopolized the news. 1
spacesailor Posted Tuesday at 10:09 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:09 AM I knew it wasn't the other famous female pilots . Amelia earheart / Cornelia Fort / Nancy Harkness Love & a lot more . spacesailor 1

facthunter Posted Wednesday at 04:53 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:53 AM The Duigan aeroplane flew at Mia Mia, north of Lancefield in 1910. Even the Motor was made here. It should still exist and I saw it about 30 years ago in an annex of the Victorian museum. A replica was bult with a Henderson motor fitted. I don't think it ever flew. Nev 1
spacesailor Posted Wednesday at 05:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:37 AM Over forty years, In this Toongabbie house . So , yes I did a little training at " Badgery's creek " . I also had a day or two at Schofield's , then it was closed. The first time to drive on " Old Windsor " Rd. It had a take-away shop at the corner of " Fitzwilliam " Rd & a wooden bridge onto the dirt track to " Sunnyholt " Rd for Blacktown . As I now have a 16 yo GreatGrandSon learning to drive I think I may be a little OLD ! .LOL spacesailor 1 1
Marty_d Posted Wednesday at 06:00 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:00 AM Keep him away from the girls or you may find yourself a great-great-grandfather. The breeding gene is obviously strong in your line. 1 1

onetrack Posted Wednesday at 10:31 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:31 AM I was talking to a former farmer client some years ago after not seeing him for quite a while. I asked how many kids he had now. He replied, "Four". I said, "Gee, you're breeding like rabbits out there!" He shot back, "It's O.K. We found out after a while, what was causing it, and stopped it straightaway!" 😄 1
spacesailor Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:50 AM " sorry never heard of her before coming to Aus, only ' WSA name " .( West-Sydney-Airport ) First time I heard " Nancy-bird-walton " was the airport naming . I think it should have been named after the first Australian aircraft builder & pilot . spacesailor
facthunter Posted Thursday at 12:00 AM Posted Thursday at 12:00 AM You didn't read my Post on the Duigan Plane then? (1910). Nev
spacesailor Posted Thursday at 03:30 AM Posted Thursday at 03:30 AM (edited) I did read it , but had to " google " for the story . yes " WSA " should be either Badgerys or Duigan . ( it was on Badgeries land ) They both have more prestige than an obscure female pilot . spacesailor Edited Thursday at 03:32 AM by spacesailor Missed word
spacesailor Posted Thursday at 03:59 AM Posted Thursday at 03:59 AM Then again . 1902 . 18 months before the American Wright bro flew. " Richard Pearse " flew his plane in Timaru NZ .( he had proper ailerons ) . spacesailor
