nomadpete Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Are you trying to start an argument? Until people start to learn to laugh at themselves, PC is going to continue to sanitise all our social interactions.
Jerry_Atrick Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 Certainly interested in peoples' opinions... I remember watching the show as a 5 or 6 yar old. Even then, I recall getting the show.. and how it showed Eddie up as the sterotype he was racist agaonst... My question is, is the show un-PC? Yes, some of the terms such as "nig-nog", etc, definitely are not warranted in todays conversation, but a show that exposes racism and heralds the racist as the idiot most of the time - well, can it be un-PC?
nomadpete Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 My answer to your question is No, I never saw that show as racist. It delightfully showed up the foolishness of racism. 1
nomadpete Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Also, I personally didn't feel that the term 'nignog' in their context was insulting, therefore to me was not racist. It was used in a sense of camaraderie. A word can have insulting implications when used offensively. 1
