The Mornington Peninsula wants to break away from Victoria and become part of Tasmania because the Vic government classifies them as Metropolitan, when they want to be classed as Regional.

Out of all the April Fool jokes, I think the SAPOL one about using dachshunds for police dogs is the best I've seen.

 

Even the new name for them was clever. "Small Area Urban Searching And Guided Evacuation Dogs".
