Flying a big kite up to the jet stream has been proposed 30 years ago or more. It would be a good way to extract energy, but it sure seems a difficult way to do it.

Very pie in the sky, methinks.

Another good idea is that a mountain-top at the moon's pole would get sunlight 24/7. This could provide lots of power, some of which could smelt moon-rocks and some could be microwaved home to earth to ( hopefully) pay the bills.

Even if feasible, this would bugger up our planet’s energy budget- adding lots of heat.

The smart thing to do is more efficiently use what’s coming in for free every day.
