spacesailor Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 My turn shortly !, Across the road are to build a " granyflat " at the rear of their block, so all your noise will be here soon. LoL spacesailor
facthunter Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 (edited) You get your OWN special noise. No cheapskate arrangements for you.. Another Granny off the street. Nev Edited May 1, 2022 by facthunter 2
spacesailor Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 MY neighbor complains about my listening to the aircraft passing overhead on my VHF receiver. I can only run my aircraft motors when he is not at home. Makes me happy to have that ' grannyflat ' take a long time to get an erection !. LoL spacesailor
onetrack Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Gee, that's some pretty cheap and nasty-looking style of construction, too. What's happened to proper brick and tile? One mistake with a stovetop fire, and that place would burn like a Roman candle.
red750 Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 The bricks and tiles will come later. Only the 3rd day of putting up the upstairs framework, with a stop for rain in the middle. It's a Metricon home, one of Melbourne's biggest builders. 1

Timber frame with foil wrap over it, bricks are spaced out around 50mm leaving an air gap cavity for insulation. Add more insulation between the timber and you've got a double walled structure without the cost of doing two layers of brick, and something to screw the plaster to at the same time. Lot easier to install services eg wiring in too. As for tile - you can keep that stuff. Our house had concrete tile roof, and finding leaks was a nightmare. I ended up ripping them off and reroofing with Colorbond. No leaks since and the rain sounds a lot better! 3 1 1
facthunter Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Tiled roofs are BS, especially the cement ones. Nev 1

facthunter Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 They were common once. A lot of weight on the frame when wet. Keeps Roof Seal in business. Nev 1
red750 Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 They started the brickwork a couple of days ago. I went out to take a look.
onetrack Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 She'll be right, a good coat of concrete render will fix any imperfections in the brickwork!!
red750 Posted September 10, 2022 Author Posted September 10, 2022 Opening post was one week short of a year ago. They removed the scaffolding today. Still a lot of finishing off, cleaning up and landscaping to do, but here's what it looks like naked. Here is a photo from the builders website showing a completed version. 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Of course the big question at the moment is, will it be finished? They did well to get this far 1
