They need to figure out where the votes are if they want enough votes to win government. The Sky drongos and some in the party think the answer is to move further to the right. I don't think that's the solution if the centre of politics is where the votes are. The logic they are using is that centre moderates lost their seats, and those on the right kept theirs, therefore right is right. Flawed logic in my opinion. If they want to sit on the right with a minimum of seats and followers, then good luck to them.

Their MSM stacked deck didn't work this time. The only blue ribbon  ex PM's seat left is Wannon where dazzling Dan Tehan is nearly eliminated by an Independent. No one was killed in this Coup  and people voted freely.  The People have voted. They are angry at being treated as fools. On Monday, Barnaboy's Job is up for grabs. The Contest is between him and David Littleproud. (who I'm backing). Nev

The next phase of this discussion will be watching where the deposed Libs get employed.

Yes. Let's keep an eye on the revolving door and note there the rejects land!

They have continually gained mind-boggling wealth at the expense of the Average Joe and Josephine, and it's time the scales were rebalanced.

The problem as I see it, is that the Liberal Party apparatchiks who have gained unwarranted and unearned political and controlling power

That is the core problem with all flavors of governments. Places like Russia, USA, China, are all suffering from that oligarc problem - the obscene corruption runs the place. And we have been following the trend. As soon as Albo's mob try to make changes for the greater good, just watch the MSM scream!

When the Libs finally admit that they should have ditched Scumbag a year ago, they may be on the road to recovery. Meanwhile we have seen the same thing happen in USA, where the Republicans still cannot see what is staring them in the face. Look at Britain who are going the same way. Boris is refusing to stand down and some of his own party are wanting him gone. they seem to forget that they have the power to remove him, just as the Republicans should have done with Trump and the Libs with Scumbag.

There was a move forming to replace him last September, with Friedhamburger but deemed to be too risky. Quite rightly, as Australia is sick of leadership changes. The best  way is to lose an election and the Leader usually resigns. By the way how many US presidents have been assassinated?. That says something.   Nev

They were usually shot by fanatics. Australian Prime Ministers are stabbed in the back by their colleagues. Et tu, Brute?

This article below by one of the newest (and looking like one of the youngest) Green politicians, is interesting - in that he claims politicians pay is insane, and wonders how we have created such an insular, overpaid class. I wonder how long it will be, before politics corrupts him completely, and he loses all that political innocence and great, wholesome aims? Not long, I'll wager.

Reopening thread 😉

I normally wouldn'r watch a 7 Sunrise short on youtube, as they are, IMHO, benign at best.. But the below, which was a bit of a Dorothy Dixer interview, did have me thinking that Albo is so far doing OK.. Early days yet, of course, but his desire to stay away from inflamatory language/conduct, but still get things done, is a breath of fresh air - in global, let alone Aussie politics.

The news is out that Clive Palmer spent $31M just during his 6 week Federal Election campaign. It's reported that he spent least another $31M in the previous 6 mths on political advertising and party contributions.

The word is that the second figure could be as high as $50M - making it over $80M expenditure for poor old Clive - who appears to have garnered not a single seat (he MAY get 1 Senate seat yet).

Poot old Clive, that's 80 days income he's just lost. He might get a bit of it back, but he needs to get 4% of the vote to get his partys deposits back, and in a lot of seats the UAP vote failed to reach 4%.

I love Matt Golding's cartoon ....

A woman who had been married three times walked into a bridal shop one day and told the sales clerk that she was looking for a wedding gown for her fourth wedding.

“Of course, madam,” replied the sales clerk, “exactly what type and color dress are you looking for?”

The bride-to-be said, “A long frilly white dress with a veil.”

“Please don’t take this the wrong way, madam, but such dresses are usually more fitting for the first time bride who is more innocent in the ways of life, if you get my meaning.”

“WELL!,” replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk’s directness, “I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as a first-time bride.

You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding, he died as we were checking into our honeymoon hotel.

My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the limo on our way to our honeymoon hotel that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again.”

“What about your third husband?”

“That one was a politician “, said the woman, “and every night for four years, he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to be…but nothing ever happened.”

It's goodbye to Eric Abetz, bumped out of the job by the Jacqui Lambie Network.

Fantastic news!  Abetz is a conservative dinosaur.  Yes Jacqui and her previous office manager turned Senator may not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but their hearts are in the right place and they're honest.  Just hope they aren't taken advantage of - Jacquie has already been burned that way, giving her vote to some scurrilous piece of LNP legislation in return for vague promises to do something for veterans.

Wiilie sad: "I guess every silver lining has a cloud. Hanson has been re-elected to the senate."

That prevented big Clive from getting a seat. $100mil for no gain!
