They've been increasing their nuclear weapon stockpile lately. Estimates are that they will have 1,000 nukes by 2030. The editor in chief of the Global Times made a good point about nukes recently when he said "I know the US can destroy China ten times, but we will make sure we have full capability to destroy the US once". Once is all it takes.

Hmm.. I recall a teacher at high school telling us they were the same words the US used on Russia.. Actually, it was 1979..
