I believe a small scale replica was built after the discovery, a few years ago near Shanghai, of an huge dock used to build the originals. A sternpost rudder, big enough for a modern supertanker, was also unearthed. I believe local dissatisfaction with the enormous amounts of timber being extracted from the forests of Vietnam led to their independence from the Middle Kingdom. 1
