Litespeed Posted January 25 Posted January 25 No Dolmio, that's fake bottle crap, not to be used as actual food.
facthunter Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Modern Tomatoes don't taste that good either unless you grow your own. Nev
Litespeed Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Fresh and home grown is best. Hard to eat only good stuff these days.
red750 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 How do you guys navigate? If you get blown off course as easily as you get sidetracked on these topics, I'd hate to fly with you. 2

You may start off talking politics, but the subject drifts and before you know it, it's about what Stuart and Mandy got up to when the lift was broken down. 1

Marty_d Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Ah, sorry OME, if you were draining the pyjama python then you missed it. And now that you've ripped the seal off, you'll be going all night. 1
facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I get sick of hearing about Dead people.. Same as watching violent movies. Enough is enough. Every club oldies belong to is all about your mates dying. Nev 1
red750 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I've told you before Nev, if you don't like what's in a tupic, no one is forcing you to open and read it. I jeave many topics unopened, particularly on Rec Flying, where I have no interest in them.
facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 . We DID have some pretty good interaction along the way though, which I for one enjoyed. What do you mean about "opening it up" Peter? The PIC is there already.. Incidentally I've never been Blown off course. Nev 1
red750 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Nev, you know what I meant. If there was a thread on here about TV "reality" shows, like Married at First Sight, Great Australian Bakeoff, etc. I wouldn't bother to read them because I have zero interest.
facthunter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Yeah I don't go for them at all either, Same theme, different faces. Lots of "staged" over reactions by Z grade actors REALITY ??? anything but. . Nev
old man emu Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Those reality shows are made just so that the TV stations can meet the licensing requirement to broadcast a certain percentage of Australian produced content. Reality shows are incredibly cheap to produce in comparison to theatrical shows - drama or comedy. They do not give employment to our thespians and numbers of behind-the-scenes people, all of whom in the past have shown themselves to be as good as or better than those of other countries. Reality shows they do not promote the expression of either our past or present history. There are volumes of great material from which to make really good television. Shows don't have to be retelling of war stories or exploration. We should look into our locally produced literature for ideas. I won't list the very many locally produced drama and comedy shows there have been in the past. I leave that to you to recall. Technically these were quality productions. Some had storylines that may have been trivial, but the ratings showed that they were what the people wanted. There are production companies producing good stuff, but they only seem to be broadcast by the ABC or SBS. Two networks that other media have taken efforts to dissuade us from viewing. 1
red750 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 English singer Marianne Faithfull has passed away aged 78. The singer had previously suffered multiple health problems, including bulimia, breast cancer and emphysema caused by decades of smoking. 1
red750 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Legendary Australian musician Bruce Howe died in Adelaide on Wednesday aged 77 following a long cancer battle. Howe was the bassist for Aussie rock band Fraternity in the early '70s, which was led by former AC/DC singer Bon Scott. The band's all-star line up included Howe on bass, Scott on vocals and his long-time friend Jimmy Barnes as the replacement singer after Scott joined AC/DC. Barnes confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media. 'My dear friend Bruce Howe has passed away after a battle with cancer. Bruce was the first person I rang when I went solo,' he began. 'He played bass with my band and helped guide me through the early years of my career. He will be sadly missed. RIP, you were the most ferocious bass player I've ever heard.'
onetrack Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Never heard of the bloke, but that doesn't mean much. I guess if you were in that tight muso circle, it means a lot to you.
