George Pell is also described as dying from complications from a hip operation. Seems there’s a lot of it about. When mine was done in August, I was in a room full of old people recovering from hip replacements. Among the vistors was a nice old lady who came over to my bed and proceeded to describe how her hubby had died within a few months of breaking his hip. Great encouragement! 1
facthunter Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 She might have been lining you up as a hubby replacement. George had "Invisible means of support too" so he's better set5 up than you or me. Nev 1
Marty_d Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 I would have thought Tim Minchin's song "Come Home Cardinal Pell" would have got a bit of airtime following his death. They say you shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but I say it depends on who died. 1 2 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 True, Marty. But we must remember, he was, in the end, exonerated of the charges. Are we to say our High Court may have been tainted, or, that where there's smoke, there's fire even if the evidence of flames did not meet the evidential requirements of the law? BTW, not guilty does not equal innocent. It merely means the case lacked the lawful evidence to convict. 1

And I say that the Judge perverted the course of Justice by not allowing time and motion evidence material into evidence. I believe that such evidence would have shown that, in the time available, the alleged offence could not have taken place. And let me emphasise that, although I believe Pell to have been a rock spider, in reference to this particular allegation, and only this allegation, I believe that nothing happened. That belief is based on that excluded time and motion material. 1 1
pmccarthy Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Similarly, I believe that Prince Andrew was stitched up in that photo with the young girl which I think is a fake. I think so because I saw an identical photo of him in another context, which I think was the source, but can't relocate it. 1

I doubt that the deviant who organised young girls for famous rich old blokes did it just for fun; lots of opportunities to take pix and video to blackmail them with. That’s one reason I decided not to become rich! 1
facthunter Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Me too OK. Rich and Famous makes you public Property and if you know the $ value of everything you know the real value of nothing. Having lots of money is a GAME to many of those people. Nev 1 1
Popular Post kgwilson Posted January 23, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) They may not have been able to convict Pell though lack of evidence but he personally orchestrated the system of payouts to victims of abuse from all his Priest mates that cost the catholic church sweet FA, (the maximum was 50k, most got much less) in return for written statements that those poor buggers would never be able to make any further claim or criticise the catholic church. He was a grub. Good riddance. Edited January 23, 2023 by kgwilson 2 4 1
red750 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Raquel Welch passed away Wednesday US time, aged 82. 2
onetrack Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 It's a bit sad seeing all the film and entertainment figures of our youth increasingly slipping away. Who could forget Raquel in her fur bikini in "One Million Years BC"? https://www.theguardian.com/film/2009/jun/18/one-million-years-bc-reel-history 1

Prehistoric savages with no dress sense? Actually, I must admit I don't remember seeing a whole lot of the film at the time. I was too busy seeing if I could remove the tops and bottoms of my attractive drive-in partner. 2 1
facthunter Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Wasn't there an Ursula Undress? Surely they know how to disrobe elegantly. Nev 1 1
kgwilson Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Ursula Andress was a swiss actor and starred in the first Bond Film Dr No. She became a sex symbol after that and earned the new surname given by the press with the roles she played. She is now 85 & lives in Rome. 2

red750 Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 The world's fastest man on water, Ken Warby, has died in the United States after a short illness. He was aged 84. 1
kgwilson Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Never heard of him. The only one I remember was Donald Campbell and Bluebird back in the 60s or 70s 1 1
rgmwa Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Spirit of Australia in which Ken Warby set the world water speed record in 1978 on Blowering Dam, New South Wales, Australia. In the Australian Maritime Museum in Sydney. Robertsf2012 - Own work 1 1

rgmwa Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Apparently the fatality rate for people attempting the world water speed record is 85%. Not good odds. 1 1
facthunter Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 The idea of fast speedboats should never take off. Nev 1
