My wife and I always get quick attention with Medibank. You might say it is unaffordable, but they give me a report each year which shows they have spent far more on us than we have paid in fees. Of course, you have to have the surgeries, hip replacements and so on to get the benefit!

I have been with Commonwealth Bank Health Service (CBHS) for over 20 years, since my wife worked in the bank. Taking into consideration my collapse and pacemeker, bladder cancer and chemotherapy, my wife's multiple cancers, radiation and chemotherapy, X-rays, CT scans,as well as all the stays in private hospitals, I think we have got back far more than we have paid out. For ongoing specialist checkups, Medicare picks up most of the bills, with a relatively small gap payment.

I have had the free Seniors (concessional) hearing aids for a number of years, but my hearing has deteriorated and I have a audiology check next Monday. I will probably need more expensive aids. The government will pick up some of the cost, but my CBHS extras cover should handle the rest. Also, Medicare covers the ongoing cost of my urology materials, provided I pay an annual $60 membership to the Ostomy Association of Melbourne.

England has given my bro-in-law eye surgery,  to keep driveing vor s living.

Here No optical surgery for free , even if you go blind . (  $ 3000 for each eye ) .

Over there you Can get a car , fully financed , just have to put the fuel in .

For those hip operation,  could take 5 years to get the go, THEN its twelve months, waiting .

Mine was so bad the specialist was suprised I had to wait the time it took to get to him !.

HE put my surgery time to four months .

The years of being semi invalid takes a big toll on your muscles & stamina , as well as the soaring weight problem.

Only just making a super market shop , without my usual " going to sit down for 5 minutes " .

We need a bit of both worlds ! , me thinks. LoL
