Because Republicans hate Democrats more than anything or any one in the world, Putin, Kim Jung and Jinping included. I guess the first Republicans didn't make it to the Mount

I find it amazing that Trump seems to have the numbers to get back in.....   Surely after pissing off Pence etc he no longer had as much support?

Even given the god stuff they seem to suffer from, how could Trump and his religious republicans expect to get any votes?

A combination of redneck supporters and a bunch of election officials only too ready to scam the system could see him get back in. He wouldn't win in a fair election, but the Republicans are trying very hard to make sure the next election goes their way irrespective of the outcome of the vote.

Musk is still having a few teething troubles settling into the role as Twitter boss. He's sacked about half the staff to cut costs as they are losing 4 million USD per day. Now they've figured out they have to reemploy some of them to do what they want to do. Musk has confirmed a massive drop in revenue since taking over. At the NewFronts event this year, Twitter sold almost no advertising and locked in very little revenue for 2023. At the NewFronts event, they normally sell about 600 to 900 million USD upfront every year, meaning they would normally go into 2023 with 15 to 20% of revenue secured. It's said the major advertisers are holding off to see how Musk goes with content moderation.

Twitter's turnover in 2021 was about 5 billion, with Twitter now having to pay 1 billion per year on principal + interest for the money Musk borrowed. I see that a lot of Twitterites are talking of jumping ship to Mastadon, an open source alternatve to Twitter.

It's good to see Julie Inman-Grant, Australias eSafety Commissioner, laying into Musk over his new version of Twitter. Inman-Grant formerly worked for Twitter, and played a big part in ensuring extreme content moderation on Twitter.

Inman-Grant is concerned (rightfully), that Musk is simply going to utilise Twitter to reflect his views, allow relatively uncontrolled participation on the platform, and host extremists and other undesirables, as well as allow misinformation to flourish.

Musk has recently stated on Twitter that he believes every American should vote Republican in the upcoming elections, on the basis that Congress needs to be Republican-dominated, as the current Govt is too left-leaning.

The very fact that Musk is immediately politicising Twitter after his takeover, merely shows that he'll be content to allow it to be used as an extreme-right-agenda meeting place, and disinformation platform against the Democrats.

Sadly, we laugh at it, but the way that people "trust" these social networks, this has the potential to do much more damage than Russia or China in real terms. It amazes me how when messages are dramatised with memes, peoples' logic flies out the window.

Radar Online

Elon Musk had a meltdown on Twitter after it was revealed his newly acquired social media company is in danger of being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission, RadarOnline.com has learned.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, upwards of 75% of Musk’s Twitter workforce departed the company this week after the 51-year-old billionaire gave his workers until 5 PM Thursday to decide whether they wanted to stay on or leave the platform he is now in charge of.

To make matters worse, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) revealed on Thursday that he and six of his Senate colleagues have penned a letter to the FTC requesting the commission open an investigation into Twitter following Musk’s acquisition of the company on October 27.

“We write regarding Twitter’s serious, willful disregard for the safety and security of its users, and encourage the Federal Trade Commission to investigate any breach of Twitter’s consent decree or other violations of our consumer protection laws,” Senator Markey and his colleagues wrote.

The lawmakers also requested the FTC launch an investigation into the “alarming steps that have undermined the integrity and safety of the platform,” as well as Musk’s alleged newly implemented “growth-at-all-costs strategy” that has left Twitter users openly exposed to “fraud, scams, and dangerous impersonation.”

Fragile ego. Musk said that his takeover of Twitter was all about returning it to free speech. He's just suspended a Twitter account that shared video of Musk being booed at an event. His version of free speech.
