However, after visiting my Beloved, I went to my sister's house (across the paddock) and had a quiet lunch with Mum, Sis and her other half. The first Christmas I've spent with my Mum and Sister forever. Sis and I over-supplied the food as usual, and I'm having a roast lamb sandwich for tea with left-over jelly and custard for dessert. We'll be eating trifle and Broken Glass for the rest of the week. About 6:30 this evening we got hit with the Mother of all summer storms with hurricane winds. I thought that the glass sliding door and wall on the windward side would blow in. It did manage to blow over my bar-b-que which was against a wall and side on to the wind. It was one of those storms where you get 10 - 20 mm in fifteen minutes with flash flooding. Now the tail end showers are dampening any spots the torrent missed. I wish that I had had my rainwater collector system installed. I'd be set for months. At least I won't have to water the buffalo grass I'm trying to establish. So I got through the day with tears in the morning and raindrops in the evening. In between it was an OK day. 4 1
red750 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Here with the three 'kids' (my eldest turns 50 in Feb). First Christmas without Mum. They gave me a small drone with camera. Now I have to get it charged up and learn how to use it. 2
Jerry_Atrick Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 Well, that is another Christmas done. It was a nice one.. pint at the village pub with about 80 other villagers (they open 12 - 2 on the day and Boxing Day). Relaxed dinner with the family, and friends stayed form about 7pm to the wee hours flapping the gums, playing some crd game we play once.a year, and every time it needs to be explained to be.. and just taking it easy. Some cleaning up today, clearing leaves from the gutters, and back to it...

The player before you puts a card down on the pile. If you have one with the same picture or number of spots, you put it down and yell, "Snap!" Then you get to pick up all the cards in the pile. 1
red750 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 For many years, my father, in his 70's plus, played Patience (or Solitaire) for hours. Always had the card table set up. 1
facthunter Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Have yet to try it. Doesn't mean I will. I have a shed where I can make and fix things Tidying it up would involve a lifetime. and then I wouldn't be able to find things. Nev. 1 1
red750 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Beware of tidying up. That's when you throw out something two days before you need it. 2 1
facthunter Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Tidy workshops are just for show ponies. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. Nev 1 1

I yelled, "SNACK!!" 1 1

Yenn Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Don’t tidy up.I just did because I moved house. Now I cannot find any of the tools I need, they are in my hangar, plus I still have to finish building a work bench. Slow but I am getting there. 1
