Old Koreelah Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Lots of interesting ideas in this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4mKGgjPWEw
onetrack Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 The hollow curbing that acts as an excess water drain is a brilliant idea, as is the strip lighting on the road edges. Some of the other ideas are not particularly practical. Cost is the greatest consideration in all these schemes.
red750 Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Melbourne's Citylink tunnels are being fitted with bands of lighting which move along the tunnel at the speed limit in the hope that it will keep drivers at the speed limit. The speed can be remotely controlled to slow down the traffic in the event of a collision or other hazard. 3
red750 Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Here is video of the tunnel lighting. One of the problems with the Burnley Tunnel is that it has a steep exit ramp, which causes drivers to slow down, resulting in congestion. It is hoped this lighting will encourage drivers to maintain their speed and keep the exit clear. https://fb.watch/jgaNxwwHpB/
