Jerry_Atrick Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 With CMOS chips, size matters.. Not always the number of pixels 2 1
Marty_d Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 My first digital camera was an Olympus with a big lens - it was only 2.1 megapixels but took better photos than any high-mp phone camera I've had since. 1
spacesailor Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 In what way ?. Long telephoto or superwide apature. Or just Chunky . My 5 Meg has 480 telephoto & macro lens , With a 1,4 equivalent apature. Should have been better . spacesailor 1

Foreground and background were clearly different - colour was better - I don't know, just in general the photos looked better. I'm not into photography seriously so I can't help you with F stops or how wide the aperture was... Edited June 28, 2023 by Marty_d 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) A DSLR by no means a guarantee of a good quality image... But a general guide on the size of the sensor being important rather than just the megapixels is here: https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-image-sensor-size-affects-the-quality-of-your-photos There are plenty of online resources about how to take that "perfect" photo for the given circumstances/subject. spacesailor Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Like a " Leica " lens . But the problem remains, the time the shutter works after the Button was pushed. To capture a bird Taking flight needs a fast engagement of the shutter . That phone camera's don't have . spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Maybe that's why the US police say "Freeze" so their body camera images come out more clearly. Nev 3
red750 Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 I have a good DSLR camera, but it's quite a while since I've used it. A bit bulky to carry around all the time. I like the camera in my iPhone 6 and use it daily. Email my photos to myself, download them into a folder called iPhone Pics, and edit them from there. It's a bit annoying sometimes when you try to take a photo and it rapid shoots half a dozen or so. I was surprised today when I was in J.B. Hi Fi, to see that you can still buy a Kodak Film Camera. 2
spacesailor Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Those film camera's seem to be making a comeback. Should I put my ' enlarging & processing ' equipment up for sale . spacesailor 1
Jerry_Atrick Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Thought Kodak went bust years ago... Obviously resurrected 1
spacesailor Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Which one is ' right-side up ' ,? . White car ! Dark car reflection. Dark car with lighter reflection. spacesailor
facthunter Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 The images have been relocated in the frames to make it harder to tell.. Nev 1
red750 Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 The Facebook post said the photographer used 18 cameras and waited 5 weeks to get the reflection just right. 2
spacesailor Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Must have had a good battery in the car, for 5 weeks with the lights on ! .LoL spacesailor 2
Popular Post willedoo Posted August 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2023 I was looking through some files and found these photos of the last place I worked before retiring. It's in the vicinity of the Juniper oil field north of Innamincka. From memory, the camera was a compact Lumix and a lot lower megapixel rating than today's equivalent. 4 1
onetrack Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 There's a lot of colour manipulation in that storm photo, Peter.
onetrack Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Willie, they are great photos of the interior. I had no idea the country N of Innamincka was that beautiful. Stepdaughter works for Beach Energy and spent a lot of time in the Cooper Basin, managing OH&S for Beach's gas operations. 1
pmccarthy Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Innamincka on 20 June this year. Who would want to be anywhere else! 3
facthunter Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 I always find it good to get back to the lush green of the Coast. Nev 1
Bruce Tuncks Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 The Innaminka pic and the first one with the water reminded me of how you found out if the water was too deep to drive thru... you first send your woman to walk it. If she disappears, then you don't drive in. 1
spacesailor Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 And , there's no crocodiles awaiting a meal. In the olden days, you send in the guides & porter's, to clear the way ! . How many porters to satisfy a crocodile or two ? spacesailor 1 1
