onetrack Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 This news is what all the weather boffins have been saying for the past few months now - we were looking at all the signs of a potential El Nino event, from June 2023 onwards. The NOAA has just confirmed that all the conditions for a definite El Nino event are officially here. An El Nino event means a dry finish to Winter for Eastern Australia, and a hot start to Summer. The Western side of Australia is far less impacted by El Nino events. We had a very dry May, but the first week of June has been the wettest week I've experienced for years - our June rainfall average in Perth is 124mm, we've just had 140mm from Monday to Friday this week. It will be interesting to see what the rest of Winter actually turns out like. https://www.weather.gov/news/230706-ElNino https://www.farmonlineweather.com.au/news/us-declares-el-nino-is-here/1319376 1
