onetrack Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Jazz is all discords, not harmonious chords. It sets you on edge. I'd go for 60's and 70's and 80's rock any day. Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, the Eagles, that period was the best rock era. 1
spacesailor Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I liked those ' big bands ' of the 40s . Glen Miller , moonlight sonata, & In the mood . I think it was called " swing " . spacesailor 1 1
willedoo Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I don't mind good jazz, which I guess is the traditional jazz Nev mentions. What I really dislike is that idiotic form of jazz where it seems like every player is trying to lead solo and all outdo each other at once. It's just a vanity project for the performers and results in a stupid sounding din. You get more musical sound coming from a chook broiler farm. 1
Litespeed Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Jazz is cool baby.. But when in the mood ..Murder ballads by Nick Cave 1

nomadpete Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Some modern jazz, and some modern 'classical' sounds to me like random din and discords. I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate them. I love most kinds of music. Just don't play country or western. Or opera for same reason as OT's. 1

Remember at Bob's place in the Blues Brothers movie when they asked Bob what sort of music they normally had. Bob told them they have both types of music - country and western. 2 1
red750 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Enjoy anything you can get. Music to me is now just noise. If I now hear anything I used to enjoy, it now sounds nothing like what I remember. I don't use the radio in the car, it's just waffle waffle waffle. The CD player rejected every disk I put in it. Even a lot of TV sounds like quark quark quark. 1

red750 Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Some Porsche owners have been told not to drive their luxury cars as the manufacturer issues a recall to thousands amid the risk of wheels falling off. Around 1,000 drivers in the UK have been sent letters or emails with the warning telling them 'not to use your vehicle until further notice'. The price for the top-end cars, the drivers of which have been sent the notification, ranges from about £100,000 to £200,000. 1
onetrack Posted Saturday at 02:28 AM Posted Saturday at 02:28 AM So ... it looks like the wheels just fell off the Porsche bandwagon? Oooohh, Look!! I just found the new Porsche company song!!
red750 Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM I got a real blast from the past on Facebook this morning.I was born in 1944, and my parents shared a dairy farm with my grandparents at a place call Jindivick North, in Gippsland. We had to leave the farm and move into Warragul in 1950, because the government wanted the valley to construct a reservoir, the Tarago Reservior. On FB this morning, a post from Better Boating Victoria, saying they are about to build a boatramp, effectively 50 metres from where our gate used to be. You can look up Tarago Reservoir on Google Maps. The red arrow points to where our farm gate was. 2
spacesailor Posted yesterday at 02:44 AM Posted yesterday at 02:44 AM reservoir . Power boating leaving it's oil in a reservoir doesn't sound good . It should be fish shitting in the water only. spacesailor 1
facthunter Posted yesterday at 02:53 AM Posted yesterday at 02:53 AM TCW3 oils are for outboards. Usually at a very low %. The propwash oxygenates the water. Nev 1
nomadpete Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Sales of new outboard motors must all be 4 stroke. Oily residue in the water is not such a problem as all the old 2 stroke wear out and get replaced with 4 strokes. 1
old man emu Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Posted yesterday at 03:48 AM Nasty animal cruelty thought: I wonder what would happen if you put a large mirror in a frame into a chimpanzee enclosure at a zoo where the chimps could see their reflections, and leave it there until they got used to it and began to ignore it. Then one night while they were not out in the enclosure, remove the mirror but leave the frame where it was. Then watch what they did next morning. 1
facthunter Posted yesterday at 04:34 AM Posted yesterday at 04:34 AM Het help. It may be contageous. Nev 1
old man emu Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago The evil thought that I had was that, after the chimpanzees got used to seeing their reflections in the mirror and accepted the concept, what would they do if suddenly their reflections were not there. 1
