I seem to be missing something here.

It is indeed complicated. And this discussion is being carried out in several threads here. In relation to Nixon, what he did with Watergate wasn't official. All that related to his attempt at re-election. As President, he did use Federal resources for an illegal action, but the actions were not things to do with Presidential duty.

This is what was relied upon by the Senate:

Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

I can't tell you what is meant in the USA by "high Crimes and Misdemeanors", but one of the grounds for impeachment was that the President obstructed justice by attempting to impede the investigation into the Watergate break-in.

If Bidon wins the election, he could order the execution of Trump and it would not be a criminal act.

Nothing stopping him from doing it now.

As long as it was part of official duties.. hmm summary decision if treason should do it

[Edit] of course, the current bench would rule that Biden didn't really win the election so he has no official capacity

It now seems Nixon was wrong to resign over Watergate and Ford had no business giving him a pardon. Despite two lower courts ruling that Presidents aren’t Kings, apparently they are. Very ironic given that America fought a War of Independence  to break away from despotic rule.

King (USA definition):  an absolute monarch who holds the whole legislative, judicial, and executive power, or when the legislative or judicial powers, or both, are vested in other people by the king.

King (British definition): a limited monarch whose power is restrained by fixed laws.

In the USA "king" is exemplified in popular culture by characters in fictions such as "Game of Thrones". In Britain, Europe and counties of the Western Civilisations, a "king" is exemplified by a Head of State who doesn't openly meddle in the running of the kingdom, leaving that task to people chosen by the citizens.
