Popular Post pmccarthy Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM Popular Post Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM A big positive for me. I lost my wallet in a park yesterday in the English Midlands and today I got it back with licence, credit cards and about $400 equivalent in cash. The girl who handed it in at the police station did not leave her name. 3 3
onetrack Posted Saturday at 01:37 PM Posted Saturday at 01:37 PM That is great news. I lost my wallet in a shopper car park about 3 years ago, and a young Asian lady handed it in to Centre Management. I went and inquired to the Centre Management later in the day, and there it was. I only had about $130 in it, but a lot of cards. I got the lasses name/ph no, called her, and asked how I could send her a reward. She insisted she wanted nothing, but I said, "at least let me send you a lottery ticket!" She gave me her address, and I sent her a thank you card, and a slikpik. Unfortunately, it won nothing. It was obvious my winning streak didn't extend to Lotto. 😞 3
old man emu Posted Saturday at 11:25 PM Posted Saturday at 11:25 PM There is nothing worse than reaching for your wallet and it not being there. I often just put my wallet on the centre console of my car and forget to pick it up when I dive out to go to the supermarket. Even realising that I don't have it while I'm halfway to the supermarket gives me a jolt. I can imagine PMCC's horror having lost his in a foreign country. Both his and Onetrack's happy result restores one's faith in the goodness of most people. 1 3
pmccarthy Posted Sunday at 01:59 AM Posted Sunday at 01:59 AM The policeman on the desk asked “does that restore your faith in human nature?” I said I hadn't really lost it. He said “ I lost it years ago!” 2 1

Litespeed Posted Sunday at 05:08 AM Posted Sunday at 05:08 AM Beautiful day in the port for Easter. Lifted my pot and bingo, 5 nice blue swimmers for dinner. Will do a homemade Thai chilli jam 🦀 in the wok. What do the poor eat? Bloody fresh seafood. 2 1
Litespeed Posted Sunday at 05:56 AM Posted Sunday at 05:56 AM At $40 min a kilo, I want them fresh and free. 1 1
Litespeed Posted Sunday at 05:59 AM Posted Sunday at 05:59 AM Yesterday was a kilo bream and a very large leather jacket. Ah life is hard 2
facthunter Posted Sunday at 08:41 AM Posted Sunday at 08:41 AM EXCEPT When they pinch your tinny and everything rusts or you get a big swell from an off shore LOW. for days. There's not much meat on a swimmer. You need a large bowl of water and a flannel to eat one. I used to spear them off the front of a Boat before the wind ruffled the water surface and you PICK the ones you wanted. . Just a flattened nail with a barbed end on a Piece of Curtain rod long enough to reach the Bottom. . Nev 1
Litespeed Posted Sunday at 09:36 AM Posted Sunday at 09:36 AM Not a lot of meat but very sweet, the effort is definitely worth it. Had great weather but a change is in the air. I get muddies for volume and blueys for flavour.

Jerry_Atrick Posted Sunday at 11:06 AM Author Posted Sunday at 11:06 AM (edited) Actually, funny you should mention that. The Atrick family has been discussing plans... and living in the city is not necessarily where we will be. We have to be close to decent amenities, but we have decided rather than do what we did last time (arrange job, place to live, etc) beefore we arrive, we would arrive first, buy a decent sized car, and travel around a bit to places we think we may want to settle. I guess, I will have to settle for somewhere on the coast, and yes, it is likely to be Victoria for now, but around 3 hours drive from Melbourne is doable (I will want to catch a few Hawks games when I am back!!) Son has been wanting to live on a boat for a long time, but I have told him the regs in Australia are a lot different to hear, and there are no real canal boats nor vessel carrying canal ways in Australia (I am sure there are a few). But, I recall, even last time I lived in Melbourne (2006 emigrated back), you could get a decent feed from Port Philip bay. Was thinking the Carrum/Chelsea area, but I recall around Seaford way it used to get very polluted. But all I need is a 4hp tinnie with some cover (and a trailer). Litespeed Posted Sunday at 11:18 AM Posted Sunday at 11:18 AM (edited) Sounds like a plan, lots of great coastal spots around lakes entrance, a huge boaty area. In Victoria you can live onboard with no gov hassles. If you want isolated but close, Mornington Peninsula or Philip island are great. Yes we need a envy emoji, just to demonstrate how shit Aus is. Don't come, the food will eat you and the tourists taste terrible. Port Stephens is awesome and lots of work in Newcastle or Sydney. We even accept Poms but hide the beer and wine from them. Naturally the seafood is terrible, I had to force down the fifth 🦀. I even had the supervisor tell me not to eat them. Here he is on patrol poor buggar had to eat big gar fish. It's a awful place to live, all those tourist pics are just fake news... Edited Sunday at 11:23 AM by Litespeed 2
